I have been dreaming of this day for years. The culmination of many past careers, 17 years of building my own firm, and countless colleagues, collaborators, clients, makers, and friends who have helped make this a reality.

A special thank you to @gilschaferthearchitect , not just for the beautifully written forward, but for your friendship and support all these years.

theROLODEX | @amymeierdesign + @shopamymeier

guys Amy has been one of those designers that i've turned to for inspo for YEARS she is as talented as she is funny and while her design approach is refined and sophisticated let me tell you SHE IS A GREAT HANG. we laughed we yapped we shopped and *somehow* we got this video down to two minutes though we could have done an hour long podcast. maybe next time Amy!!!

TL;DR Amy's cheat sheet to a #renovation is here:

Favorite white paint → Mountain Peak White or Cloud Cover
Favorite moody paint → No paint for Amy but get deGournay on the line!
Painter → @sprucepainting
Best stone yards → @stoneland.usa strikes again
Current stone obsession → huge mention for @compasstone who will help you source rare marbles from all over the world
Stone fabricator → @cooritalia
Designer to look out for → @jonathan_nesci
General contractor → SAN DIEGO listen up! @munschhomes for you and UTAH @jacksonandleroy is the call
Drapery vendors → @valley.studio__ for your drapery and upholstery needs, or @customcraftuph for upholstery and outdoor
Dream project → HORSE GIRLS call Amy up I'm personally dying to see her take on a stable or rural compound

#TheRolodex — before I was a design professional™️ I remember buying my first home + feeling totally overwhelmed by how to approach the design journey. I would have *died* to work with an interior designer or architect but put every dollar I had into my down payment! I stalked some of my fave designers to see what I could learn from them but I didn’t find much... now as a designer, I know why us designers get some damn protective over great vendors (hint: they are hard to find!) but this series is for everyone out there who is just trying to MAKE IT HAPPEN I FEEL YOU. 🫡

A site visit to Alys Beach where the sculptural forms and play of light make you feel as though you’re moving through an art installation.

What struck me most is the generosity of the place. Everyone seems to gift something back to the town; a glimpse into a courtyard, a seat to pause on, a piece of art to discover.

For our team, these visits are about more than architecture. They’re about being together, looking closely, sharing observations, and gathering a true sense of place. We’ve already begun collecting pieces for the home—objects, lighting and materials that feel connected to this landscape and will help tell the story of where we are. A home that feels like it could only belong here.

I love color most when it catches you off guard, an unexpected note that shifts the mood of a room entirely.

Inspiration is funny. You can’t plan it. You can’t force it. I dreamt up the idea of taking our hand carved pedestal and making it into a table out of a beautiful mappa burl table while I was at a spa in Thailand. Right after, I ran into @knpetersen , and my excitement was bursting. I had to share the idea with her. And, well… here she is. I couldn’t be more proud. taken in Shop Amy Meier by @amymeierdesign

This summer marks 8 years of the Shop, and with so many new faces here lately, it felt like a good time to reintroduce ourselves.

As many of you know, I love the hunt.  As part of my design practice, I am always out sourcing, looking for unique, interesting and inspiring pieces, and often, when I can’t find what I’m looking for, creating them myself. These pieces, taken together, form a clear expression of what Amy Meier is about: the handmade, well-made, and hard-to-find pieces that embody originality and authenticity.

In the summer of 2018, when a corner space with two large, bay windows became available between the village bakery and the post office, we took it as a sign and filled the windows with my treasures. Designers and architects from across the country discovered us, and the shop quickly became a resource for vintage, antique, and original pieces, designed by me or in collaboration with artists that I had found throughout the world.

Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or have just discovered us, we’re so glad you’re here. Thank you for being part of these first 8 years, we can’t wait to share what’s next!
