This is what I built the Women in Theatre Network for…

Last night was magical and a moment that I’ll carry with me for a while! ✨

It highlighted the power of this space and what support and community looks like in action.

Very proud of @_mia_mcc and blown away by her performance in @thursdaymeltdownprod’s “Third Summer of Love”. It’s run at @thelionunicorn ends tonight, but keep an eye out for future performances. It’s a great piece of theatre! 🎭

Mia, @amyrockson and I all met for the first time in person, which was so lovely, and what a moment we shared! 🥰

Here’s to community and here’s to speaking life into one another! 🙌🏽

On Friday night, I partied into the early hours at the wrap party of something very special. An amazing project I’m a minuscule part of, but that touches my heart. 🥹❤️

Yesterday, with bleary eyes and sore feet, I made my way to Parliament Hill to watch people fly #KitesForPalestine. I got there later than planned, but still caught some of the event. A photographer noticed me smiling and taking photos, and quietly pointed out that there was a family there who had come from Gaza… the young boy had limped away from his wheelchair to fly his kite. He was playing with other children. It was beautiful and heartwarming. 🥹💜❤️

I didn’t make it obvious that I was looking, but as I was about to leave I felt the need to say something. So, I discreetly approached the family and asked the young father if they had come from Gaza. At first he looked a bit wary (not in a hostile way, but with the look of someone used to persecution). When he said yes, I gently and warmly welcomed him, and said I was glad they are here and safe. His face completely changed, I saw relief and a weary smile. He looked emotional, and I found myself holding back my own tears. I wished them well, then quickly walked away. Grateful for an opportunity to express my support. 🙏🏾

Sometimes, the overwhelming noise of division and hatred can be muted by quiet moments of compassion and solidarity.

Anyway, of course, I managed to hug a tree before I left. 😁

Then, in the evening, I went to a concert. A fabulous concert. An arena full of people from different backgrounds, singing and dancing along together. Common ground, at least for the evening.

Today, has been a duvet day. I’ve avoided the news, rested my mind and my body, and reminded myself that joy and/or rest can be an act of rebellion. Protect your peace.🧘🏾‍♀️

I had an amazing time yesterday. Another joyous guest role with the fab Wooden Overcoats team, at the London Podcast Festival.

Exceptional writing (as ever) by the brilliant @david.k.barnes, and a fun day of live audio drama with some of the very best voice talent.

I had an absolute blast playing Professor Ruby Carbuncle in #RudyardOnTheMoon.

I didn’t make it to #BlackOnTheSquare this year. I was planning to, but was feeling poorly and needed to be match fit for a gig on Sunday.

Closing out my birthday month the way I opened it … with a little bit of Marilyn. 💋

In line with tradition, well, my tradition anyway - I celebrated my birthday throughout August. 😁

A short series of lovely lunches, soirées and phone calls (retro chic 🤣), with friends and loved ones near and far. ❤️

I went to one of my fave cities and was met with fun and kindness throughout. (Randomly, I even had my own Marilyn moment as I walked over a street grate. What are the odds? Thankfully, I kept my dignity - though I couldn’t stop laughing🤷🏾‍♀️😅😂).

Back home, I got to see the ever glorious Vanessa Williams and the ever brilliant Matt Henry shine in The Devil Wears Prada (musical); and saw the Mel Brooks mayhem of the incredibly bonkers production of The Producers (thank you @seraphinapilates ❤️). 🎭🎶

Oh, and I got nominated for an award. 🎙️💫😊

It’s certainly been an eventful month in the grand scheme of things, but right now - I’m indulging in happy, happy Leo thoughts. 🦁 by @amyrockson
