The weather gods smiled upon @newstead_young_writers_fest once more for their latest festival yesterday - such an incredible bunch of kids, grown ups and creatives all inspiring one another! For such a small community to be able to pull this off is a true testament to their love of books and art, and it’s a wonderful day to be a part of it. My mystery writing workshop was a full house with so many enthusiastic and clever teens 🕵️ 📖 ✏️ Thanks Nelle, Dean and all the team 👏 taken in Newstead by @amywritingbooks

They say one person can’t save the world on their own, but one person sure can try 🌏 Over the weekend I attended the official launch of @ianbmcburney Don’t Panic! and it was a brilliant celebration of community and hope. What a privilege to have been part of Ian’s publishing journey - I’m pretty sure I told him years ago that he needed to write a book, and it turns out I was right 😉 📖 Full of knowledge, wisdom and an understanding of how earth can be a better place if we just all make some simple switches, this book is a must-read for everyone who cares about the future. And Ian - your speech was fantastic…maybe you should be prime minister next?? 😉
Oh, and if you want some in-person inspiration, you must book Ian for a speaking engagement (schools and corporate and council and otherwise) - he really knows his stuff! by @amywritingbooks

What an absolutely delightful festival @writearoundthemurray was this past weekend! 📚 Awesome fellow writers providing excellent conversation and inspiration ✅ Beautifully organised program full of a wide variety of content for all ages ✅ Fab locations, perfect weather and friendly locals up for a chat ✅
Thank you @aimeechanauthor and all your hardworking volunteers…it was just delightful!
And thank you @gabrielletozer @willkostakis @gobergmoser @jackheathwriter @waywardfancy @snoekstra for the chats, meals and catch ups - I do enjoy the company of fellow authors so very much!

What a night it was at Stamford Plaza on Saturday as we were joined by @milliganreports and @dervlamctiernan to crown our greatest crime-writing talent! We were treated not only to a fantastic interrogation of crime-writing craft between our hosts, but an emphatic celebration of emerging + established voices in the community.

It was a whirlwind trip to Melbourne last night, but gosh it was worth it 🥳 so exciting to score the Davitt Award for this years Best YA Crime Novel (especially when i was part of an INCREDIBLE shortlist alongside @kateemerywrites and @carlasalmonbooks - it was noted how stiff the competition was, ladies 👏)
A million thanks @sistersincrimeau for all you do in supporting female crime writers, and extra big thanks to @penguinbooksaus @penguinteenaus for giving me a bookish home and @alexadsett for making things happen and keeping me sane 🥰
I thanked her last night but I need to thank her here too: @cecileshanahan_ you are clever and generous and wonderful and I appreciate you so much!

I always want to inspire and motivate teens when I visit schools, but sometimes it seems they do that for me instead 🥰
When you write for younger readers, you don’t always know when, or if, you’re hitting the mark - so hearing it directly from them when you have is just the best 🤗📚 by @amywritingbooks
