Whispers Behind the Old Door

Old doors… They have outlived generations of people who once lived behind them and witnessed countless happy and sad moments.
If only they could tell their stories, they would fill an interesting book or perhaps even several!

That is why I chose the title “Whispers Behind the Old Door” for my Artwork.

Do you also love old doors, gates and gateways? What stories do you think they hold?

Just a few days ago, I only knew that Lenggong was a place in the state of Perak...

When I received an invitation to participate in the ASAL 2026 Art Festival, I was filled with curiosity to discover what this special place was all about. Only after arriving at the event did I learn that the participating Artists had gone through a rigorous selection process, which made the opportunity feel even more meaningful and special.

From the moment I arrived in Lenggong, I was amazed by its extraordinary historical value as part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Lenggong Valley, its breathtaking nature, ancient caves dating back tens of thousands of years and most importantly, the kindness and generosity of the people who warmly introduced me to this mysterious and fascinating place.

Artists, both 11th locals and international from 11 countries, came together for the grand ASAL 2026 program, organized by Tourism Malaysia and Don Ishak. After visiting the fascinating Archaeological Museum, we continued our artistic journey at the Batu Di-Situ Gallery, where we painted cement slabs inspired by the lives of prehistoric people.

It was truly an unforgettable experience. Under the scorching Malaysian sun, each Artist brought their own interpretation and imagination to life, creating Artworks inspired by Lenggong's remarkable prehistoric heritage.

The closing ceremony was made even more memorable by the presence of legendary Malaysian Artist Dato' Lat.

ASAL 2026 was a stunning and unforgettable experience, an opportunity to meet like-minded people, talented Artists and wonderful new friends from different parts of the world.

A huge thank you to the Organizers for their warm hospitality and for making us feel so welcome and thank you to everyone who participated in making ASAL 2026 such a meaningful and memorable project.

I wish Lenggong, this historically invaluable UNESCO-recognised place, continued success, prosperity and International Recognition. May more people from around the world have the opportunity to discover the extraordinary heritage, history and beauty of the Lenggong Valley.

Egypt... Pyramids, pharaohs, and the mysterious Sphinx...

A land where ancient civilizations left behind magnificent temples, underground tombs, and towering pyramids. Along its Mediterranean and Red Sea coasts, white sandy beaches meet crystal-clear, warm waters.

Who are the Bedouins, the nomadic people who have crossed these deserts for centuries?

What secrets lie hidden within the breathtaking White Desert, with its surreal chalk formations, and the volcanic landscapes of the Black Desert?

How many more mysteries does this extraordinary country still keep, waiting to be discovered? 🇪🇬

Saint Petersburg...

The best moments of my youth will always be connected with this extraordinary city.
From the age of twelve, life was a whirlwind of learning, eight lessons every day, combining general education with an intensive Art Program. It was demanding, exhausting and absolutely unforgettable.

Then came the magical White Nights, when darkness never truly arrived. There was never enough time during the day, so we studied late into the night without even turning on the lights, as the soft northern twilight filled our rooms.

My friends were young Artists from every corner of the USSR, all dreaming, creating and growing together. We painted outdoors, traveled home across the vast country during school holidays and returned inspired for another year of hard work.

Looking back, I realize how fortunate I was to experience those years. They were filled with challenges, friendship, creativity and dreams.
It was a truly wonderful time, one that will always remain in my heart.

How can children raise awareness about Endangered species? With their drawings, of course! 🎨

By drawing public attention to this important issue, children portray the incredible diversity and beauty of endangered animals, birds and mammals. Their creativity is a meaningful contribution to a global challenge. 🌎
