Todavía me queda mucho por aprender con esta técnica, pero estoy bastante contenta con el resultado. Seguiré practicando, que poco a poco se va mejorando.

I still have a lot to learn when it comes to colored pencils, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. I’ll keep practicing and hopefully get a little better with every drawing!

Segovia de noche

Quería practicar nocturnos y, sobre todo, cómo conseguir profundidad en los oscuros sin usar negro. Al final, creo que lo que más me gusta es cómo aparece Segovia iluminada en medio de toda esa oscuridad.

Los nocturnos me siguen pareciendo difíciles, pero también tienen algo que engancha.

¿Pintáis escenas nocturnas o sois más de luz de día?

Segovia at night

I wanted to practice night scenes and, above all, how to create depth in the darks without using black. In the end, I think what I like most is the way Segovia appears lit up in the middle of all that darkness.

Night scenes still feel difficult to me, but there’s also something about them that keeps pulling me back.

Do you paint night scenes, or are you more of a daylight person?

Pequeña práctica en mi cuaderno de boceto. El papel es de celulosa y tiene una textura bastante particular, así que pintar sobre él siempre me obliga a adaptarme un poco.

El Monte Roraima, un tepuy de cima plana y enormes paredes verticales situado entre Venezuela, Guyana y Brasil. Sus rocas forman parte de algunas de las formaciones geológicas más antiguas del planeta y la zona es también conocida por sus ecosistemas únicos.

Cada vez disfruto más de estas pequeñas prácticas de cuaderno. No son grandes obras ni necesitan horas de trabajo para dejarme satisfecha. A veces, una pintura pequeña es más que suficiente.

A little practice in my sketchbook. The cellulose paper has a very particular texture, so painting on it always makes me adapt a little.

Mount Roraima, a flat-topped tepui with massive vertical cliffs, located between Venezuela, Guyana and Brazil. Its rocks are part of some of the oldest geological formations on Earth, and the area is also known for its unique ecosystems.

I’m enjoying these little sketchbook practices more and more. They don’t have to be major pieces or take hours of work to leave me feeling satisfied. Sometimes, a small painting is more than enough.

Con esta acuarela damos oficialmente la bienvenida al otoño en las clases con @vicente_art.

Una paleta que me gusta especialmente: verdes apagados, tierras y esos pequeños toques anaranjados que cambian por completo la escena.

Creo que esta temporada nos va a dar bastante juego.

¿También sois de los que disfrutan especialmente pintando los colores del otoño?

With this watercolour, we’re officially welcoming autumn to our classes with @vicente_art.

A palette I particularly enjoy: muted greens, earthy tones and those little touches of orange that completely change the scene.

I have a feeling this season is going to give us plenty to paint.

Me apetecía pintar montañas nevadas, así que eso hice.

Quería practicar sobre todo los cambios de textura entre la roca y la nieve, y trabajar la atmósfera sin perder demasiado contraste en la montaña.

Creo que las montañas van a seguir apareciendo por aquí una temporada.

¿Hay algún paisaje al que siempre os apetezca volver?

I felt like painting snowy mountains, so that’s exactly what I did.

I mainly wanted to practise the changes in texture between rock and snow, and work on the atmosphere without losing too much contrast in the mountain.

I have a feeling mountains will be making a few more appearances around here.
