My piece for Summer Solstice @thedanceproject_atx “Excuse Me, Sir!” 💘

Thank y’all for giving me the opportunity to create a little dance for the show!!! I haven’t choreographed a sassy jazz number since high school and it’s easily one of my favorite styles to choreograph! Watch me dance in the back left corner. Had to put myself in my own dance cuz I’m greedy😁

The Bite 🩸

The kiss scene in Office Siren was essential to the overarching message and theme of my work. Very much inspired by the imagery in Chainsaw Man (Reze Arc) and Jennifer’s Body, I was worried that the scene might not read or come across the way I intend. Belton, Mithil, and Michael completely understood my vision and were so crucial in bringing the artistry into this moment.

There is so much more to Office Siren than just beautiful women and a sexy kiss scene. The kiss scene is intended to be shocking and off-putting. It is beautiful, ugly, gross, sublime. It connects the beginning of the story to the end- the sirens arise from the water at the start and by the end they have conquered their prey. The sirens aren’t fueled by lust, despite being so alluring, but rather an animalistic instinct.

This kiss scene turned out so delicate yet frightening. An intimate moment between the siren and its prey- in his final moments he is entangled in her body and surrenders to being eaten. I hope this moment can leave the viewer with questions.

ps. The fake bl00d was chocolate sauce and red food dye. It was sooo yucky and a very unenjoyable kiss (sorry Kiran)! We are such thespians wow who would’ve thought! Thank you @lainiegarciamua for this beautiful edible bl00d concoction! We couldn’t have done it without you!

There is something really special about showing up before you know exactly where the work will lead.

We train, we listen, we move, we make space for one another, and little by little, something begins to reveal itself.

As I slowly recover, heal, and build strength I get chances to move with this community while I lead class.

So grateful for this season of movement, community, and becoming with ATMA Moves. 🕊️
