Sucevița Monastery, in the heart of Bucovina, is one of Romania’s most remarkable painted monasteries. Its Church of the Resurrection dates back to the late 16th century, while both the interior and exterior walls are almost entirely covered with beautifully preserved frescoes.

One of its most iconic scenes is “The Ladder of Saint John Climacus”. Sucevița is the only UNESCO-listed Moldavian church to feature this extraordinary representation, making it truly unique among the painted monasteries of Bucovina.
