Anakbayan USA condemns the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the NTF-ELCAC for hiding its bloody hand in the Massacre of the Negros 19 and their direct role in the militarization of the people of Negros!

The NTF-ELCAC may claim that they do not celebrate the loss of Filipino lives. But it is clear that the fascist Philippine state under Marcos Jr.—who is vying for a seat at the United Nations Security Council—has nothing but false sympathy and are outright liars to the people. As of April 24, the chief of staff of the AFP is even gloating over the “neutralization of armed insurgents in Negros Occidental.” In reality, the AFP and NTF-ELCAC are celebrating the merciless killings of civilian activists by labeling them as terrorists.

Justice for Kai Sorem, beloved youth activist and cultural worker!

Kai is one of many Filipino youth who seek to understand their roots and the society that forces many Filipinos to migrate. She, like many, chose to contribute to change.

On April 19 and 20, 2026, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) conducted prolonged and indiscriminate strafing across several villages in Toboso, Negros Occidental. The attack displaced 653 residents (168 families) and caused an additional 200 residents living between Escalante City and Toboso to flee.

While seeking to learn from and serve the communities there, Kai was among the 19 individuals brutally massacred by the AFP.

We, along with her family and all who encountered her bright soul, stand firmly united in our grief and our rage at this tragedy. We call for justice for Kai Sorem! by @anakbayanusa

“Only through militant struggle, can the best in the youth emerge” - Jose Maria Sison

On the 161st anniversary of the birth of Andres Bonifacio, the 60th anniversary of the founding of Kabataang Makabayan, and the 26th anniversary of the founding Anakbayan, Anakbayan USA renews its commitment and determination to continue the unfinished revolution started by Andres Bonifacio for true national liberation of the Philippines and the genuine democratic demands of the people.

Anakbayan USA must and will continue to serve the interests of the Filipino people in the US who have been neglected and tossed aside by the Philippine state — to defend our migrant communities, undocumented and documented, workers who support their families back home, the communities where many of our Anakbayan members hail from.

And while we tirelessly serve the people, we must also take an active stance in the fight to call for the US to be out of the Philippines in the same way Bonifacio and the Katipunan stood up against colonization.

As we celebrate another Bonifacio Day as Anakbayan USA, we are reminded of the legacy of revolutionary Filipino youth that have come before us: A revolutionary Filipino youth movement that has faced foreign occupiers and dictators, and one that is unshaken and ready to fight against the continued attacks on our people.

We call on all Filipino youth to join Anakbayan, be among the workers in our communities, and build the mass movement for national democracy in the Philippines.

Just as Bonifacio took up the call to fight against Spanish colonizers, just as the Kabataang Makabayan waged tireless struggle against the dictatorship of Marcos Sr., Anakbayan USA will heed the call and tirelessly fight for a Philippines that is truly independent, where the people’s needs and demands are met towards socialism.

Anakbayan San Diego, Anakbayan Long Beach, Migrante San Diego came together to sing Lagi Ko Kayong Kasama after our SoCal Martial Law Action as tribute para sa kasamas natin ~ Negros 19.

Mabuhay ang Negros 19! by @anakbayanusa

The baddest Filipinos are holding it down in College Park! But why?

Last week commemorated the No To War and Plunder Week of Action, where Filipino-American activists and international solidarity groups across the country launched community campaigns to coincide with the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in NYC. Together, they advocated for people’s rights, for national sovereignty, and for social liberation. Most notably, hundreds of individuals walked across NYC on September 22nd to protest Trump’s visit to the UN General Assembly in convening with government officials such as Marcos Jr. & Netanyahu. Activists in particular scrutinized Trump and Marcos’ involvement with U.S. led initiative, Pax Silica, aiming to secure resources for artificial intelligence initiatives at the expense of Filipino livelihoods. As plans for Pax Silica seem to expand, the Philippine government’s complicity with Trump harms local communities in Tarlac - displacing locals and stripping environmental resources while pushing forward geopolitical tensions.

Not all of us can be in NYC confronting the Philippine state – therefore some of us have got to hold it down in College Park, because the mass movement is everywhere!

At Monday’s Computer Science Career Fair, we joined forces with other anti-imperialist student organizations to protest UMD’s connections to the military-industrial complex, and to empower students to find career paths that don’t funnel their skills and talents towards employers implicated in crimes against humanity. We highlighted how the defense contractors and AI technology at the heart of Pax Silica pose a threat to civilian safety in the Philippines – and increase the likelihood of more massacres at the hands of the Philippine State. by @anakbayanusa

Where is Lazaro? Where is the Philippine Consulate?

Di of Anakbayan USA responds to the empty words of Philippine foreign secretary Tess Lazaro at the UN General Assembly. The Philippine government claims to “protect Filipino migrants” but are only seen colluding with the fascist US state that has illegally detained, abused, and trafficked Filipinos.

Over 200 Filipino cruise ship workers and seafarers have been racially-profiled, harassed, held for questioning and deported at the Ports of Baltimore, Norfolk, Boston and San Diego since June 2025, with no adequate response from the PH government to ensure their safety. Most recently 11 Filipinos were taken from Boston denied from proper due process.

Kuya Raul, a union sanitation worker and resident from Jersey, was detained by ICE in August 2026. The Philippine Consulate promised they would work to prevent Raul’s transfer to another facility, but they failed. Raul was transferred to a detention facility in Mississippi, torn almost a thousand miles away from his family, friends, and allies.

We need to fight for our kababayan because we know Tess Lazaro won’t. Mobilize with us for the upcoming hearings of detained filipinos:
9/30: Ate Veronica & Kuya Raul
10/7: Kuyas Nestor & Desmond
10/9: Kuya Richard

Attend the Defend Migrants Alliance Call on 9/29
RSVP: tinyurl.com/DMASEPT29

And join us in the fight to free all detained migrants on the national day of action 10/7!

Anakbayan USA celebrates Mary Jane Veloso’s full pardon!

16 years ago Mary Jane joined the thousands who leave the Philippines each day as an Overseas Filipino worker. Like many she became the victim of human trafficking. Over the past 16 years she was detained in Indonesia and then in the Philippines for a crime where her innocence was proven time and time again.

At every turn the mass movement raised outrage and clamor across the globe that stopped her potential death row execution in Indonesia and now that has resulted in this full pardon in the Philippines.

While Mary Jane has now returned to her family, Anakbayan USA continues to raise the call for national industrialization and genuine land reform so that Filipinos, like Mary Jane, are no longer forced to migrate at the risk of precarious and dangerous situations.

Let us continue to wage our fights and win many more victories as we fight to change our homeland! by @anakbayanusa

🚨 Philippine officials - including Ambassador Romualdez, DFA Secretary Lazaro, and DENR Chief Cuna are currently in NYC for the UN General Assembly, eagerly selling out the country to foreign bidders.

✊🏽 As Filipino youth and students, here’s what we think about it 😤

The Philippines is not for sale!
