TALKING DANCES is an instant composition format that @analufretta and I developed through various self-organised residencies.
No fixed choreography, no predetermined script.
Instead: listening, responding, composing with movement, text, music and spoken word in the moment. Our guest musician this time was John Eckhardt @basswald with this beautiful double bass.

And yes, instant composition does make me think of instant noodles … anybody else??😅

Zandile Darko and Analu Fretta work without a fixed choreography. Zandile Darko und Analu Fretta arbeiten ohne bestehende Choreografie. Als Dialog zwischen Tanz und Theater verbindet TALKING DANCES improvisierte Bewegungsabläufe mit Text und Sprache, musikalisch begleitet vom Bassisten John Eckhardt. Jede Aufführung ist einzigartig und entsteht situativ aus dem Moment heraus – in direkter Reaktion auf das Publikum und die ausgestellte Kunst. Unbedingt miterleben!

TALKING DANCES comes into being in real time.
Each performance emerges in response to the given space, the exhibited artworks, and the people present.

Minha irmã, esse dia (porque por aqui ainda é seu dia) é muito especial.

Passei o dia inteiro pra lá e pra cá. Mas o dia inteiro com você na minha cabeça.

Fiquei pensando: que bom é ter uma irmã. Que bom é te ter como irmã. Que bom é assistir seus passos e testemunhar sua jornada de vida.

É bom ver as coisas que me irritam em você e perceber que são coisas nas quais eu sou irritante. É bom ver suas vitórias e sentir um orgulho e uma alegria inexplicável.

É bom te ter aqui por perto e sentir a paz de te ver sendo, seguindo, vivendo e crescendo. É bom me assistir sendo cada vez menos mãe e cada vez mais irmã.

Quando você era criança eu ficava correndo atrás de você pra não cair. Não se engane, esse instinto ainda vive em mim. Quando você sai de perto e te deixo no aeroporto, fico preocupada, me dá um aperto, uma vontade de segurar perto.

Mas tenho um lindo diálogo interno de me dar conta que você dá conta. E se você não der conta vai aprender com isso e tá tudo bem. Digo pra mim mesma: ela é mulher feita. Quanto mais liberdade ela tiver, mais perto de mim ela vai estar.

Eu amo te ver crescer porque eu cresco junto. Eu amo ser sua irmã mais velha. É uma das maiores realizações da minha vida.

Feliz 23 anos. E que venham muito mais anos de deliciosos amadurecimentos!

Activism workshop, poetry readings, speeches, and more!
There will also be warm drinks and snacks.
From 6pm onwards there will be a delicious home cooked vegan dinner.

The goal of the Fundraiser event is to raise as much money as possible for local Palestinian and Lebanese NGOs that deliver food, shelter, medical care, and legal support to people affected by the ongoing genocide.

I was going to do a synopsis of this piece, but instead I decided to do a thankful letter. This is a solo, but it was not built alone. Looking at these photos I had encountered joy.

Joy of the encounters I had,
joy of the movements I made with my body,
joy of the audience laughing with me from the discoveries we had together during the improvised poems,
joy from writing with my heart,
joy from meeting new people and being inspired.
Joy of having so much respect and love for people I don't see and speak everyday, for people I have never met in person, only online.

Perhaps these people don't even know the importance they had in my story. A particular moment I was overcoming a very difficult mark in my personal life, and had so many hands lifting me up. I am stronger because of you! And I am eternally grateful to you for sharing your wisdom and part of your precious life time with me!

The impact everyone of you had on my life is uncapturable in a moment, but I grasp it during this crazy journey that is life.

Eu ia fazer uma sinopse desta peça, mas em vez disso decidi fazer uma carta de agradecimento. Este é um solo que não construí só. Olhando para essas fotos eu sinto satisfação.

Satisfação
nos encontros que tive,
nos movimentos que fiz com meu corpo,
do público rindo comigo das descobertas que tivemos juntos durante meus poemas improvisados,
de escrever com o coração,
em conhecer novas pessoas e ser inspirada.
Satisfação de carregar tanto respeito e amor por pessoas que não vejo e falo todos os dias, por pessoas que nunca conheci pessoalmente, apenas online.

Talvez essas pessoas nem saibam a importância que tiveram na minha história - em um momento muito específico em eu estava superando uma marca muito difícil na minha vida pessoal. Tive tantas mãos me levantando... Sou mais forte por essas mãos que me impulsionaram quando meu corpo não era capaz sozinho. Toda história é coletiva.

Caros, o impacto que cada um de vocês teve na minha vida é incapturável em um momento, mas eu o capturo durante essa jornada louca que é a vida.

O que de nossas palavras e conversas escolhemos dar destaque?
Ao recortar, colar e editar uma escrita, reiventamo-nos e redescobrimos o significado dessas escrituras. As palavras são vivas e sujeitas a interpretação.
Temos nós responsabilidade pelas edições e interpretações que fazemos?
E aquilo que não tem destaque? Torna-se não dito? Ou ativamente esquecido?
"Ela realmente fala sobre isso" (2021) é uma performance sobre a construção coletiva de um discurso e sobre o papel que empenhamos individualmente nesse processo.

Which words and conversations do we highlight?
When we crop, paste, and edit writings, we redo and rediscover their meaning.
Words are alive and can be interpreted in various ways.
Do we have response-ability for what we do?
What about the things we do not highlight? Are they unspoken? Or actively forgotten?
"She actually talks about it" (2021) is a performance about the process of collective building a discourse. It is about our individual role on this process.
