Late in 2024, Matt and I recorded our last “single” of the year, but then we hung up our hats and forgot about it. I found it while prepping for our gig this Saturday at the Chapel with @marcbarreca and Light Time Delay. We have a nice little set planned for the guests, including this banger of a drone. Modular Seattle is excited to host Light Time Delay, An Anomalous Wave, and Marc Barreca, with visuals by Accuraci, at the Chapel Performance Space as part of the Wayward Music Series. This is certain to be a stellar sonic experience (pun intended) that you won't want to miss! See you there!

Light Time Delay (Théa-Martine Gauthier) uses field recordings, granular synthesis, bespoke software, hardware DSP engines, sound design, data sonification and poetry to create long form ambient performances. Her works form a basis of energy exchange and are designed to evoke a feeling of intensity, movement and space. This original performance will feature a synthesizer modeled on a computational physics simulation of a black hole, sonification of Voyager One’s Triaxial Fluxgate Magnetometer instrument data from the 1979 fly-by of Jupiter and a unique acoustic resonator.

Gonna try something different this time. Alan will perform some ideas solo and Matt will provide accompanying visuals. Working on putting together another AAW show soon, but will revisit our friends here in a different capacity. 3rd installment in our singles series is out now. This track took a couple more spins to realize but we are both happy with the result. Inspired by an idea of Matt’s to try and capture the feeling of being sick with a fever and the comfort felt once it passes. The B-side is a dense wash of sound created by Matt and features a rock solo, but maybe not the “rock” you’re thinking of. Enjoy! (Link in bio) by @ananomalouswave

Performing our thing between other likeminded, abstract artists was such a pleasure last night. Thanks to everyone who came out to make a random show in and classic Capitol Hill institution such a lovely night. We look forward to doing it again. This year we are challenging ourselves to put our a single a month (with B-side of course). Doing so won’t allow us to dwell too long on what it could be, and just gives us an opportunity to record and mix as we go. Not everything will be perfect, and there in part lies the truth. Today we release the first, “Terra Firma”.

We dipped our toes in live performance last month, and now our friends in @bitgraves invited to play a show with them at Vermillion Art Gallery on Feb 22. The show will also feature @nvelectronica and live visuals from @accuraci_ . We look forward to sharing the space with them as we continue to evolve this thing we created.
