During the opening of ‘15 Mysteries of the Rosary’, dancers Mai Chi Janáčková and Anastasia Panteli brought the exhibition to life through movement.
For a brief moment, the stories, figures and symbolism of the exhibition stepped beyond the canvas and into the room.

🫧This is a video I recorded last year, on January 6th, 2024. It's based on @imrevanopstal 's movement, on a beautiful video I bet you've seen a billion times if you're also a dancer.

I feel torn about uploading dance material on instagram. I like putting myself out there, daring and challenging myself to understand that some people will like what I do, others will not and some will just ignore and skip.

On the other hand I feel like the beauty of this artform is hidden in its impermanence and by analysing videos again and again yes, we might learn a lot, but we also lose the beauty of impermanence and momentums which for me are quite crucial.

I also don't like the idea of being categorized as a specific kind of dancer. At least not yet. I fear that if I upload too much I might accidentally constrain myself from diving into other fields and experimenting more with elements I'm not used to. But if I upload too little I fear that I might lose chances to connect and be seen at all. And it's super cool to use instagram as a material to connect, to have fun and to sometimes make fun of yourself, yet some days it feels weird. It feels like we can not seperate work from rest.

I also sometimes wonder if I'm mostly positively inspired by watching beautiful works from other creators or if I'm mostly negatively caught up in too much information, and subsequently losing self-worth and remarking everything I lack and should improve on. In reality I know all of this is not that deep but today I felt like yapping.

If it weren't for you two, I'd still be waiting for Godot.

(The last photo is just a funny reminder that we met in uni and the cringey caption is my way of dealing with bittersweet emotions that come hand in hand with the end of this era.)
