THUG LIFE

Written + Directed by: Naya Chris

Filmed by: Naya Chris + Siarra Wise

In the midst of everything going on in the world, I wanted to make a piece stemmed from anger & confusion. From about 5 different rewrites, to actors dropping out, to filming for hours on hours, I am very pleased with my work. Still working on my editing lol but that comes with time. Thank you everyone on set for working with me tirelessly & making my vision come to life & be better than I imagined! Shoutout Omar for responding to my late night emails & sticking with me through this chaos.
Enjoy 💜 by @anayaxchris

Thank you, Jesus. A 360 experience that humbled me and I couldn’t be more grateful. I’ve grown into someone I never thought I could be, but God. Literally. 3 years I will forever cherish no matter how the story was written. I GOTTA BACHELORS 🥹 thank you to my village, y’all have been right by my side through my mistakes, bad choices, great decisions, and accomplishments. I promise to believe in myself as you all did, and strive to be my greatest self. Congratulations to all grads go grab your dreams by the neck and make em happen! 🥳♥️

WOW. To be loved & supported as much as I am, I truly don’t have enough words to thank everyone. I’m so blessed. So grateful. So happy🥹

Thank you, @jamboroski for this MAJOR opportunity. My first time being casted in an original piece and being apart of the original cast. I applaud your HARD work & dedication to your artistry. You sir, are a gem & I pray that your future is nothing but abundance. Once again, thank you for trusting me with your art.
•
I can’t say thank you to anyone without thanking @todor_tody LOL! No matter how much we joke about you being the one to cast me, it dearly means everything to me. Just to have someone in the room who’s on your side is such a blessing and I thank you thank you thank you!
•
@joslynndaly …… GIRL! Can I just say that you are such a pleasure? No seriously. Your calm yet assertive direction made this process so much fun and so easy. Such a breeze. Usually I’m so stressed when it comes to shows but you were a joy to work with. WOMEN ON TOP! I am forever cheering you on. Blessings to you and your journey.

Last but not least, Charlotte. Oh how I will forever carry the character of Charlotte with me. She reminds me of myself in so many ways & I am proud of us both. We’re resilient, bold, & beautiful inside and out. I would cry some nights just thinking about the way her character arc related to my life so much at the time. So many people have asked me how I was able to keep face knowing what was to come & I honestly have no clue. That’s just what you have to do as a woman and in my case a black woman. I am forever proud of every tactic, choice, & decision I made when it came to you, Charlotte. Whoever gets you in their hands next I hope they treat you with care & love because you deserve it.

Signing out,

I’m so so so so thankful for this beautiful, talented, & welcoming cast! We’ve cried, we’ve laughed, we’ve even been a bit mad but in the end we remained family. I love y’all so so so so so so so much. This was such an unforgettable experience!

Thank you @hectorguerrerodance for casting me in my first main stage show! You brought things out of me I didn’t even know was there

Thank you @iamciscodisco for being my backbone throughout the entire process of choreography. You saw my potential & wouldn’t stop until I saw it.
