Somewhere in Virginia, once you cross a vast river, past tall trees, fields of corn and dragonflies ready to greet you, is a very special place called Tappahannock. A place I’m lucky enough to call my ancestral home and soil. The life and death of my ancestors for generations eon. Since a child, most of my summers were spent in tappahannock. No phone service, no tv, just me running on the same grass my ancestors once did. Way before I knew the massive significance my ancestors left. As an adult now, I make it a personal tradition to visit the house my great great grandfather William built with his own hands, on our land. I leave my honor, my respect, my love, my joys, my requests, my pains, homemade corn liquor they know all about and a deep understanding every time of who I am, and where I come from. To remember that love always waiting for me as life goes on, I have a home ready to hold me whenever I need. And those dragonflies ready to greet me🪶 forever and always, a tidewater baby🌀

So sol fulfilled to share my new painting “Get Free”.

As I created and merged with this painting for a month, this creation put into so many words what I soul feel especially in recent times. I don’t follow the belief that we are waiting for a miracle to come save us, as then we would be missing the point and the power. The responsibility and accountability. This world warped the true relationship between God and soul. But there is an ancient belief that a RA fire will return to cleanse the earth. However this cleansing is more of a remembrance than an arrival. This cleansing being birthed here, from the ground sleeping gods walk, from the core. Initiated through the children of the fire, of the sun. This I believe and soul observing right now with the world around me. I know I’m not the only seeing the significance of these intense times and these flames that do burn yet illuminate. Much is falling apart, much is pressuring, much is not waiting for time but all for rapid awakenings whether societal AND personal. To which I feel is all happening simultaneously as we remember ourselves, we are awakening to what the world should be and what it hasn’t been. And what it is now and why the now is happening 🪶 this piece expresses this for me and hope this soul reasonace reaches far

suppose to be taking a social media break for other reasons but I see I have woke up the MAGA of the AA community up. (Aka the FBAS) & I’m being spread across the groupchats, the convo videos for the OUTRAGEOUS things I’m saying. 😒Screenshot this. SUCK MY AFRICAN american BLACK ASS!! Ancestors BEEN WAITING for someone to initiate real shadow work with yall regarding HALF of the divisive bs & “history” yall MISspread. & cherry pick for a narrative, rather than actually talking about the history of Afro indigenous lineages in this country CORRECTLY. As an AA with actual indigenous ancestors and from an Afro indigenous lineage (not the AI ones yall make up, the random Cheyenne natives yall find online & say it’s your papa, all the other tribes yall claim before finding out where the real mixed tribes are, & doing REAL ground journalism to get shit correctly. The main point FBAS use is bringing up Walter Plecker. I’m a direct descendent from the areas he targeted (Caroline county, Tappahannock (aka king & queen county, Essex County, and Rappahannock).

When he made the law, it was ALWAYS about the AFRICAN mixture within the natives after the intermixing that happened post slavery. The MIXTURE was always acknowledged reason why he passed the law to begin with, why he said negroes with feathers, why he said there’s no full blooded Natives left in Virginia anymore, this is facts that even the chief of Rappa openly talks about! & why that law had a negative impact because not every native mixed with former slaves but enough did. Causing erasure in an intersectional way. Reason why rappa tribe wasn’t recognized until 2018!! THIS is the truth of what happened but bc it’s not 1000% of what yall wanna hear (which is clearly AA’s aren’t African at all) yall wanna openly ignore the very truth from ACTUAL real life descendants & tribes of these areas. It’s sooo irresponsible to me on many layers all bc the white man has completely succeeded in making you feel like AFRICAN ancestry ain’t something to be proud of. Therefore mission accomplished, they got yall minds, and now they can fully use yall to be black nationalists by @ancientnilez
