From praying in the ancient synagogue in Capernaum to Gideon’s springs and strolling through the ruins of Beit Shean.

Beit Shean is most famously remembered for the tragic event after the Battle of Mount Gilboa, when the Philistines hung the bodies of King Saul and his sons on the city walls after their defeat. Beth Shean was also a major administrative center in Solomon’s kingdom and, later, a prominent Roman city in the Decapolis. Destroyed in an earthquake in 749 AD. by @andi_tilsley

Worshiping on the Sea of Galilee will always be a special experience ♥️

In Magdala we saw the town that was excavated and the ancient synagogue. The stone with the engravings of the water jugs and menorah were found in the synagogue - it is not clear what it was used for.

Another stop was made at Tel Dan as well as Banias falls that stand as testament to us to get rid of any idolatry in our lives. taken in הכנרת והסביבה - Sea of Galilee by @andi_tilsley

Nazareth village is so special that it deserves a post of its own.

The village was created so that people can see what life looked like in those days.

1 - How a carpenter’s shop might have looked.

2 - An old olive tree. Not THAT old, though 😉

3 - This “olive farmer” recounted how he harvests olives and that he waits for the first rain at the end of October, otherwise his clothes are full of dust.

4 - An example of an ancient grave. I never knew they were so small and that the entrance is only about a meter high.

5 - A wine press close to the vineyard.

6,7 - How a vineyard would look in those times.

8,9,10 - How the olive pressing process was done. The large mill stone was used to crush the olives, which were then placed into baskets and pressed. The first press went to the temple, the second press was used in cooking and the third press was for lamps.

11,12 - The potter explained where he got the clay and how he made his pots.

13 - We saw how an ancient loom worked.

14 - What the synagogues looked like in those days. Used for public discussions, schools, reading of the Torah, prophets and other writings, religious services etc.

What a special place! If you ever come to Israel, be sure to stop there ☺️ taken in Nazareth Village by @andi_tilsley

1 - The aqueduct that was built by Herodes to bring water to Caesarea.

2 - Part of a statue found in excavations in Caesarea.

3 - They showed us a short film with the history of the place.

4,5 - Pontius Pilate dedicated this building to emperor Tiberius

6 - A sarcophagus that was found at Caesarea. One of many.

7 - Look at that detail! And this was made 2000 years ago. This is one of many pillar capitals that were found

8 - Mt Carmel where Elijah absolutely humiliated the false gods of the region at that time and had 450 Baal prophets killed. 1 Kings 18:40

9 - Jezebel threatened to kill Elijah and when he “saw it” he was filled with fear and fled. What do you see for your future? And do you have faith? Or fear?

10 - We ended the day at Nazareth Village, a village created to show what life looked like in those times. This place deserves a post of its own taken in Israel by @andi_tilsley

1,2 - At the site where they say Yeshua was buried. Whether it is the exact place or not, Yeshua is risen and that is what is important ☺️

3 - 8m thick walls believed to be King David’s palace in City of David.

4 - Nissim was a fantastic tour guide at the City if David

5,6 - King Hezekiah’s stamp was found (the thing that stamps are made with) and these clay models were made from that.

7 - This item has a very interesting story. A boy was exploring the area and found these words that were written in ancient Hebrew. He called an adult and the adult took paper and chalk and traced the writings. The next day when they went back, the item had been stolen the night before. The text tells the story of how, when the water tunnels under Jerusalem were build, they carved the tunnels from both sides and when they met in the middle, the water came rushing through. How did they know hundreds of years BC how they should build and meet in the middle? A miracle if you ask me.

8 - Depiction of Hezekiah’s tunnels through which we walked with our bare feet in the water. I was so grateful for the cool water 😅

9 - Friends of Zion Museum. If you are ever in Jerusalem I would like to encourage you to visit. It tells of the people who acted and played a role in the creation of the State of Israel. God raised some powerful people for this purpose and all the glory should go to Him. What an honour for those involved to have been part of that story ♥️

1,2 -The Garden of Gethsemane. Gethsemane means olive press and this is where Yeshua was so pressed that He sweated blood before He was delivered to be killed on our behalf so that we can live.

3 - Classic Mt of Olives photo…if it’s not documented it’s not done 😉☺️

4,5 - It is very difficult to say with certainty where Yeshua would have walked and where the specific sites are but this is one place where we can say with absolute certainty that He was there. This was Cajafas’s house - the high priest in His day.

4 - This is where Yeshua received His lashes. Isaiah 53:5 says that through His stripes we are healed. This is where He got the stripes that now bring us healing from sickness pain and disease.

5 - The prison/pit where Yeshua would have been held.
Psalm 88

6 - Jerusalem bougainvillea. Iconic ☺️

7 - a German band playing in Zion square to bless the people of Israel ♥️

8 - Ended the day with 21 000 steps 🙂 this was helped by getting lost in the old city 😉 taken in Jerusalem, Israel by @andi_tilsley

1. Mediterranean sea in Jaffa with Tel Aviv in the background ☺️

2. Jaffa - Statue of Faith. This statue was created in the 20th century with mention of Jacob’s ladder, Abraham and Jericho, among other things. There’s a lot that we can learn from the fathers of faith that we can apply today, especially if we’re contending for something as our fathers did.

3. Some Israeli pomegranates because why not ☺️

4. Jaffa harbour

5,6. Tel Azeka - the place where David slew Goliath because David knew, since Goliath spoke against the armies of Israel, he was challenging the King and that there would be consequences. There is power in covenant 🫶🏼

7. Lunch in Zion Square

8. First night of Sukkot at Beit Chai in Jerusalem. My cup runneth over ♥️

9. Is there anything better to do on your first night in Jerusalem than to pray at the Wall? I don’t think so. Father’s presence was absolutely tangible and I could sit there for hours 🫶🏼 by @andi_tilsley

Shabbat • ELUL • Family • Food • Teshuvah

What a blessing to have a whole month dedicated to introspection and correcting wrongs in relationships and asking for forgiveness. Even better than that - offering forgiveness!

It’s absolutely life changing, I tell you 🫶🏼
