it’s a lovely fall day in st paul minnesota by @andiallover

Sam and I went on a whirlwind of a trip down to Tinley Park, IL to see The Hayley Williams Show.
I don’t think I’m falling prey to recency bias when I say I think it’s my favorite show I’ve been to this year.
I didn’t take any photos of Rico Nasty or Magdalena Bay but both their sets were phenomenal, as well.

i went to the state fair for a brief 4 hours this year!

i likely won’t be able to go in 2027, as sam and i will be newly living in chicago. but maybe I’ll make a pilgrimage back in 2028. I don’t want this to be my final MN State Fair experience 💙🩵🤍

I didn’t wait in the crop art line, as i was pressed for time. I went thru the scarecrow exhibit instead. but i was able to see a handful of crop art displays and i loved this one

this beer was great but the choice to rim the cup with chocolate chips in the dog days of summer was not the best. it was immediately an issue, as you can see. chocolate chip cookie beer by big wood brewing in vadnais heights.

me regaling Senator Klobuchar with a tale of her helping me dodge a bullet in the dating scene in my mid 20s

had to grab that photo op with the future governor of mn. I certainly don’t agree with her on everything but she’s the best option we got.

when i was waiting in line for peachy’s, the fair was still under morning fog + humidity. this had such trampoline by steel train vibes iykyk by @andiallover

perhaps even better than the show at Soldier Field last year. the skyline above the stadium looked like a movie scene. the unintentional framing of the overlord of draag next to the corporate overlords of minneapolis was a great bit.

Minnesota Yacht Club Fest: 2026 Edition

I only went on Saturday this year. I had a great spot by the Skipper stage so I only saw bands on the Crow’s Nest stage from afar 😅

Yam Haus was great as always. Matt & Kim were so fun (and multiple blow-up dolls and balloons were floating around?!). I hadn’t seen All-American Rejects since 2006, I believe, and they were better this time. Jensen McRae and Lucy Dacus were both amazing. I knew more Lord Huron songs than I thought I did, and they were great. I hadn’t gotten the Geese hype prior to seeing them, but I’m all-in now.

and the reason I went, Matchbox 20, was everything I wanted. “Yourself or Someone Like You” is one of my favorite albums of all time and I never thought I’d see “Unwell” live (and I cried all the way through it)

from the basement at the Rave on a snow day in 2008 to headlining at the Varsity in the rain in 2026, I’m not going miss a show by The Cab.
.
.
and from a girl in my dorm in 2010 telling me “oh my god, you’re friends with Paradise Fears on MySpace! I graduated high school with them, that’s so crazy that you know who they are!” through the shitty sublets and broken friendships up to relative stability today, I’ll never miss a Paradise Fears set.
.
I’d never say that a song saved my life, but if i were choosing one that helped keep me going at age 22, it would be “Sanctuary” by Paradise Fears. I quite literally cried through their entire set tonight.
.
.
also, here’s a fun fact: i once tried out for my high school’s quarterly talent show with “Vegas Skies” by The Cab. by @andiallover

on a bit of a whim, I saw @mmataband and @fluorescents.chicago on Sunday!
