Hi guys, it seems the reports on my reaction to the loss have taken on a life of their own.

Just want to say - I’m home with my family and I’m in a good place.

All media interviews were done before this point. There will be a few more that haven’t been published yet.

All I wanted to express is that I do feel emotions from the loss, and I wanted to give those emotions the right to exist instead of suppressing them.

Thank you for all the messages and calls. I really appreciate them.

If you saw the headlines about us acquiring @creativeeateries with a $100M revenue target, here’s what actually happened.

When the possibility of this venture was presented, I said no. Multiple times. F&B is brutal, and I’m not from this world. Every instinct said walk away.

But my brothers Ash and @adamtan_ kept pulling me back. We spent a long time running numbers, mapping disasters, talking ourselves out of it. Most meetings ended with: “This is insane.”

Then we’d see another restaurant we loved close. Another chef give up. And we’d be back at the table.

Last week, we signed. My brother’s first words: “Ok boys, we’re now responsible for 1,000 mouths.” 250 staff × 4 family members each. I started to laugh. Then I saw his face. He meant it literally. One thousand people’s livelihoods now depend on us getting this right. That’s the weight we just took on.

Here’s why I’m doing it. I’m tired of watching small F&B places with soul die in Singapore. Not huge international groups -the real ones. Places that matter. Every closure tells young chefs: don’t bother dreaming this.

We’re changing that. We handle the brutal stuff-payroll, suppliers, cash flow, landlords, licenses, marketing-so chefs can focus on what matters: making food worth remembering.

I know the question: “You’re not F&B people. Why you?” Fair. We’re not pretending to be chefs. We’re building the system they need behind them. We’ll make mistakes. But we’ll learn fast.

Anthony and @bonnie_wsy thank you for trusting us with what you built. To our investors and everyone who showed up yesterday -that meant everything.

Back home for the month, and we decided to do Singapore properly this time, a different corner of the island every few days, kids in the back, no real plan beyond let’s just go.

We left the car sorting to the last minute (as we do), and I braced for it to be a headache. It wasn’t. @vinsautogroup had us on the road faster than I expected — quick replies, nothing complicated, genuinely warm about the whole thing. They set us up with a Seres 3, and it turned out to be exactly what this kind of trip needed.

We’ve driven EVs before, so the quiet cabin and the smooth pull weren’t new - but the Seres 3 was an easy drive, and living with an EV day to day turned out to be far more convenient than I expected -charge it while we ate, and off we went.

The boot swallowed everything (all 509L of it — the bags, the snacks, every random thing the kids insisted on bringing). Panoramic roof open — which the kids decided was very much theirs - aircon holding its own against the Singapore heat, everyone stretched out in the back - it slid into our week without us thinking twice.

Six years of building a life between two homes has taught us something simple: it’s easy to be brave when you know where your roots are.

Singapore, you’ve always been our steady ground, the place that holds our family, our future, and our hearts, no matter how far we wander. Everything we chase, we chase because you have our back.

Thank you for being home. Happy 61st birthday, Singapore. We love you.

We spent the night at @mandairainforestresort , tucked right inside the reserve — and it’s the first place in a long time that made all of us actually slow down. 🌿

Our room looked straight out into the canopy. The kids pressed their faces to the glass the whole first evening, spotting movement in the trees, going quiet in that way they only do when something’s genuinely holding their attention. No screens, no rushing - just the forest getting on with its evening.

Mornings were the best part. Waking up to the sound of the rainforest instead of traffic, a slow breakfast with everyone still buzzing, the kind of unhurried family time we never seem to get at home. We wandered, we ate too well, we let the days go soft at the edges.

If you’ve been looking for somewhere over the long weekend - they’re running a National Day Getaway from 7–10 Aug: daily breakfast, park admission for two, and their National Day buffet dinner. Kids 12 and under staying with a parent dine free.

We came home slower, closer, and already talking about the next stay.

Three terms with @bigideaz_edu and the difference in Aden and Avery is something we can genuinely see and hear at home. 📚✨ 
Raising our kids in Taiwan, English is everywhere in school on paper - but the world around them speaks mostly Chinese. We wanted them to have a space to actually use the language: to write, to talk, to play with words. 
What we were afraid of was the dry, test-and-memorise approach that makes kids quietly start to dislike English. That’s the last thing we wanted. 
Big Ideaz turned out to be the opposite. The classes are interactive, built in clear stages, and paced to exactly where each of them is. The lessons run 1.5 hours - and instead of watching the clock, they’re focused, involved, and honestly enjoying themselves. 
For us, the win was never about marks. It’s about them loving the language and living in it. And that’s what’s happening. We’re reading harder books together, having longer conversations in English, watching films with real depth - and they’re following all of it, even holding their own on complex topics. 
Three terms in, the change is unmistakable. Grateful for teachers who made writing feel like something to grow into, not something to fear. 💛
