Happy June! I have so many announcements, where do I begin?!

I'm happy to announce that I've started a new role at @thearquives this week! Here, I'm holding a copy of their 'Out North' publication, which you can purchase on their website. If you want to learn more about The ArQuives, drop by the Open House on June 13th, between 10am and 4pm, I'll be there!

Sadly, this means I've stepped out of my role at @lakeshorearts, I'm so grateful for all I've learned there. Don't despair though, I will still be at the very first Mimico Arts Jam at Amos Waites Park on June 20th from 2-4pm. Enjoy free art activities all afternoon, plus performances, come and say hi!

Last but not least, my very favorite festival @topictureshow kicks off at the end of the month with a very special opening weekend at Christie Pits. Come and see some films on July 26th, 27th, and 28th! It's free to stay and watch, but donations are greatly appreciated. If you can't make it on opening weekend, they will be screening plenty of other films throughout the summer! taken in Toronto, Ontario by @andilovesart

Tender is an independent publication created in Toronto, Canada, on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples of Southern Ontario. The creators represent a collective of Queer and Mad*/Disabled artists who came together to imagine care as community-based, abolitionist, and interdependent. Emerging from an art-based workshop series on community care facilitated by @lmorris.art for their master’s thesis in 2023, Tender invites readers to reflect on the work it takes to build community, and what it means to care for one another and thrive while the world burns around us.

*Mad is a reclaimed word and form of self-identification used by some people who experience mental illness, are Neurodivergent, or have interacted with the mental health system.

Reflections on April:
I am so grateful to have had my poetry published in two different publications last month.

I felt honored to be chosen as a poet for the @identiqueer magazine and launch, alongside other talented artists. This project is led by the amazing @the_bifecta (Ashley T).

I also have a poem in the current @dykerag_zine, and attended the fun park craft hang in High Park. Pick up a copy at one of their events!

I'm such a huge fan of outdoor festivals, they bring people together to enjoy art!

My favorites: @topictureshow (of course!) bringing together feature films with short films from local filmmakers. Giving a platform to local artists is a huge opportunity. I've enjoyed seeing so many emerging artists work through this festival.

@wavelengthmusic Summer Thing is an excellent example of bringing together multidisciplinary work. I love the addition of visual art at a music festival, which not only adds ambience but exposes the audience to emerging visual artists.

It's been 9 months since she passed, and I'm still processing the loss of this community member.

With TDoR coming up on Nov 20, I can't help but think of Aurora, her strength, and passion. Rest in power, dear one.
