Second year working on Jackie Robinson Day ✔️

The design this year ties in nicely to the cleats being used on field. Went through several color options before landing on this execution, which I thought looked the best.

Also, this might be the first time I’ve lined up at the store for a launch event for a shoe I developed 😂

More project flow ✔️

Had fun ironing out the details on this one for Jackie Robinson Day ⚾️

Speckled gum sole for the clay infield, headwear mark embroidered on the tongue top, baseball stitching down the heel. Metallic copper lace tips and dubraes to match his HOF plaque, and the upper colors representing his home and away uniforms.

A look back at the Doernbecher Freestyle project that I’ve been a part of since last March. It was an honor to help bring Jaren’s product ideas to life, and it couldn’t have been done without an amazing team to help as well.

Asti, Suzanne on the hoodie
Kris, Ashlie on the backpack
Katsunobu and myself on the footwear
Rachel on the dragon illustration
Beau on the 3D renders of OHSU and the hype video
Laurel with the infographics to use the lace locks (because what kid likes tying their shoes?)
Sheli with the layout and formatting for the insert card

This was a bucket list project on my “things to do at Nike” and it lived up to every expectation, culminating in the official unveiling 5 weeks ago at the auction. In addition to Jaren’s product, I also had the opportunity to work with Happy Life Wood on an exclusive art piece that ultimately sold for $25,000, with all proceeds going towards OHSU. When we started talking back in May, it was originally going to be a piece focusing on Jaren’s Zoom Vomero 5, but expanded to include the entire collection of footwear. The result was truly mindblowing. Having them fly out to Portland to hand deliver the piece and take part in the event was the icing on the cake.

There are a lot of other details and stories behind some of the design choices on the product that I’ll get in to in a later post, but looking forward to seeing these hit the shelves in 2023. by @andradas
