This isn't against agencies.
It's the part nobody explains.

I've started talking about the money side of modelling.
The part nobody shows.
Saving on an income that's never the same twice.
Busy months, quiet months.
And now, pocket money.

Fifty euros a week feels like nothing. Read the contract and it isn’t.

In Milan, most models on placement collect pocket money every Friday. For food, transport, a sim card. Nobody asks if you need it. Everyone takes it.

What nobody says out loud: the pocket money, the model apartment, the flights, the comp cards… all of it is deducted from what you earn later.
It’s in the contract. It isn’t hidden.
It’s just never explained, and when everyone around you takes it, you don’t think to question it.

That’s the part I wish I’d understood sooner. It’s not a secret. It’s disclosure, buried under normal.

It wasn’t luck that I never owed my agency anything. In my first months I said no to most of it. I watched girls work almost every day for three months and still finish that placement in debt.

If you’re about to sign your first contract, ask for your statement early. Ask what every “benefit” will cost you.

The gap between what fashion week looks like and what it actually pays is something I’ve never seen written down anywhere.

Two weeks in Paris. Castings every day. One job. The rent in Milan was still due.

What I understood eventually (without anyone telling me) is that the system you build for the quiet months is the only thing that makes the loud ones work. If the structure only exists when money is coming in, it isn’t really a structure.

I still think about that Paris trip sometimes. Not the show. The month after.

The fear doesn’t go away when the money arrives.

What I talk about in this video is the beginning: the first two years, the 80%, the months with nothing coming in. But the thing I didn’t say: I still check my account the same way I did when it was almost empty.

I don’t think the fear leaves on its own. You can build the right system, save the right percentage, cover the right months. It finds a way to stay.
I’m still learning that.

Art isn’t just something to look at;
it’s the way we feel. 🪽 🩰

When @giorgiaarcidiacono_official called me to photograph her collection of bespoke garments, we studied the feeling she wanted to evoke with her dresses.

Bold, unconventional, a suspended opulence, evoking through a contemporary gaze what once was, a luxury that is not ostentation, but art. 🎨

This reminded me of how important my artistic background and vision can be, and out of this came this wonderful project.

The first time our co-founder Mila Nedkova met Andrada Sirca, it wasn’t only her portfolio that stood out. First it was her energy. “Fierce, resilient, spirited, a lifelong learner” - that’s how she’d describe it herself. The yin to her yang.

There was a silent power in the way she carried herself, like she was holding onto something she hadn’t said yet out loud.

The more they talked, the clearer it became: Andrada carried an energy no photo could replicate. She wasn’t performing a version of herself for the room. She was simply present in it. In an industry built on image, it is its own quiet act of defiance.

So for the first ever House Talks, our co-founder @milanedkova knew exactly what to ask @andradasirca : “Is it possible for a woman in the modelling industry to be completely authentic?”
