I want Black Boy Joy to be a show where we can just be ourselves, with each other and for each other. I have six extremely talented and very different entertainers who are ready to show you what their Black Boy Joy means to them.

We would love for you to join us at The Black Hart of St Paul on June 22, 2024, at 9:30 pm. $7 cover. taken in Black Hart of Saint Paul by @andre_1000.ar

spent the last week absolutely swamped and totally neglected to shout this guy out bc private celebrations are wayyyyy more fun.

@andre_1000.ar there are so many people who call you daddy and they don’t even know the half of it. you move through fatherhood teaching our son about compassion and empathy, softness and strength, how to love friends, community, family and self with depth and warmth. you show him how to fight for his dreams and feel his way through self doubt, disappointment and confusion. you bring him music and culture and creation. you allow him to be his full self without shame or fear or worrying about whether you’ll still be there. you’re teaching him unconditional love every single day in ways that will stick with him for the rest of his life.

as a partner, I’m just so deeply proud of you. you have made such huge moves this year and watching the change and growth in you has been a gift. I really like journeying with you, I’m really excited about what this next adventure looks like.

ave and i would choose you every time.

I have been trying to keep it cute, BUT GUESS WHO WILL BE IN THE NEXT BLACK BOY JOY??!? He is in town for the JUNETEENTH JUBILEE (produced by Tre Da Marc) and he will be joining us for BLACK BOY JOY!!!

King Perka $exxx (he/him) is an Atlanta-made drag king who’s here to bring you comedy, social commentary, and dad jokes galore. As a member of the first ever cast of the all drag king competition King of Drag and the show’s first Mr. Congeniality, King Perka is taking the stage by storm, coast to coast!

He’s headlined the Emerald City Kings Ball, the Austin International Drag Festival and the Hostess City Hoedown in Savannah, and has even graced the stage for San Francisco’s Oaklash drag festival. Follow him on Instagram at @thekingperka to catch his next show!!

We are days away from our special Pride edition of Dragged Out this Friday! This great group of kings will be raising money for @ourspacemn on the @blackhartstp stage! One of those kings has quite the history as a cast member starting all the way back around 2008!

@andre_1000.ar has been a staple drag king throughout the Twin Cities since 2003. He began his performance career with the drag troupe The 24 Karat Kings. He holds the titles of Mr. Drag King Minnesota 2010 and Mr Black Diamond 2024. He currently is a cast member of Dragged out at Black Hart St Paul, a Co Show Producer of Hot Pink at the Saloon Minneapolis, and the creator and producer of Black Boy Joy, which can be seen at Black Hart of St Paul. While he loves to give you Rap and R&B, he refuses to stay in any box. He enjoys giving you everything from country, to broadway, to gospel, to live rapping! He is sexy, he is smooth, his smolder is undeniable, and he has a smile that melts you! He is Daddy in every sense of the word.

Also don’t miss Andre 1000’s Juneteenth Edition of Black Boy Joy at the @blackhartstp on Friday, June 19th!
