These are one of the authors who influence my writing (when it comes to manuscripts and short stories): Isabel Allende, Khaled Hosseini, and Rosamunde Pilcher. In other words, I love writing character-driven dramas, stories about longing, loss, love, connections, disconnections, grief, hope. Literary fiction with a hint of magic realism. This is me 🌹💫 #writersofinstagram #creativewriting #literaryfiction #writers #dramafiction taken in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia by @andreacabanasf

I couldn’t be happier today.

While doing more research to develop one of my characters’ backgrounds, I received an email that will profoundly shape their journey in this novel.

Thank you, @farmtransparencyproject, for your generosity and support. I’m truly honoured to have your expertise contribute further to this project, which I hope will connect with readers in meaningful ways. #writersofinstagram #creativewriting #dramafiction #literaryfiction #emergingwriters taken in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia by @andreacabanasf

Everyone now knows the incredible things AI can do (particularly now that I have to use it for other purposes), but when AI writes a story, it doesn’t have the same warmth as if a real writer wrote it. No one can take this away from us. The art of writing will never die. #writersofinstagram #screenwritersofinstagram #literaryfiction #dramafiction #emergingwriters by @andreacabanasf

Things you can’t leave for the next day (especially when you see that an agent’s authors’ list includes authors who inspired you to write your novel) 😵‍💫 #writersofinstagram #creativewriting #dramafiction #literaryfiction #screenwriting taken in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia by @andreacabanasf

I didn’t quite make it this time, but getting this far shows that my new project has potential. Every near miss is a sign that we’re heading in the right direction.

So I keep going, because one day it will be a goal!

Small wins like this make me believe my project is worthwhile and reminds me that when writing is our true passion, we simply can’t stop! And congrats to the winners! 🥂✍🏽 📚 🎥 #writers #queenslandwriterscentre #writersofinstagram #screenwritersofinstagram taken in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia by @andreacabanasf

When you’re not an influencer but still need to do your job to have your voice heard. But we do what we must, right? Lots of patience and creativity are required for this, apart from writing our stories! #writersofinstagram #screenwritersofinstagram #creativewriting #emergingwriters #dramafiction taken in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia by @andreacabanasf

Creating characters is one of the most challenging yet rewarding journeys. Every time you write a bit more about them, they teach us more about themselves. It can be tough sometimes—a love and hate relationship—but overall, it’s satisfying. I love when they take my hand and lead me to the best version of myself, helping them grow with each chapter/scene 💪📚🎥 #writersofinstagram #screenwritersofinstagram #creativewriting #emergingwriters #literaryfiction taken in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia by @andreacabanasf

Yes! I’m back on track—and with new goals—starting to send more query letters to literary agents, one a day. You might ask why one a day. Well, apart from the fact that it's not easy to find the right agent who can genuinely represent your work, I’m also working on my other projects and trying to make them happen. So, wish me luck with this, as I always cheer for all emerging writers on the same path as me. #writersofinstagram #screenwritersofinstagram #creativewriting #emergingwriters #literaryfiction taken in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia by @andreacabanasf

What exactly does having an evaluation on The Blacklist mean? It’s wild that you usually work on your draft to make your work better. Still, you have another evaluation from the same script, apparently a better draft after working with story producers, et cetera, and then your score drops. Things like that frustrate me a little bit, but at the same time make me rethink the need for an eight score in there. Other platforms also offer opportunities to be seen by executive producers, so is that really a thing? Did you have a similar experience with them or any other platform? I’m really curious to know your thoughts 💭🤔#screenwritersofinstagram #screenwriters #writersofinstagram #dramafiction #drama taken in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia by @andreacabanasf
