Ten years ago today, Facebook reminded me of the moment we said goodbye to our family home on Alameda’s East End and set out to finally make a dream I had carried since I was 17 come true: living on the Gold Coast.

Our kids were getting bigger, we needed more space, and we were ready to get off a busy street. We thought that selling our home would be the first step toward finding our forever family home.

But life had other plans.

We couldn’t buy without selling first, so we moved into a rental on the Gold Coast for six months. Living in an older home with four busy kids quickly reminded us how much time, energy and work those beautiful old houses can require.

At that stage of our lives, we wanted to be present. We wanted to be at the games, practices, school events and all the everyday moments that were flying by way too quickly.

So we changed course.

We bought a newer home in Bayport, and it turned out to be exactly what our family needed. We spent seven wonderful years there raising our kids, hosting friends, celebrating milestones and making memories.

Then two kids went off to college, and we thought we were ready for something different.

One day on broker tour, I walked into a condo with some of the most spectacular views in Alameda. I immediately called Matt and said, “I think I found our next chapter.”

And I had.

We downsized, simplified and traded a big family house for sunsets, water, nature and a much easier way of living.

Except we forgot one important thing.

Kids don’t actually leave. 😂

They come home from college. They come back for summers and holidays. They bring friends. They need a place to land. And the truth is, we WANT them here.

Every real estate team has a different way of working. On our team, we lean into what each person does best, especially when we’re working together on a team listing.
For 55 West Atlantic, Andrea led the listing, Jenn handled property prep, and Jolene managed and exected the marketing.
It looked something like this:
🏠 2 weeks of property prep, including new carpet, refreshed paint, a deep clean (windows included!) and refined staging.
📣 2 weeks on the market, with a focused 10-day marketing plan that leaned into the home’s unique four-level living and those stunning views from the rooftop deck.
🌅 One twilight open house, where the eventual buyer came through.
🎉 Pending in 18 days.
There are a lot of moving pieces that go into getting a home ready and sold. This one was a true team effort.
We each had our lane, jumped in together when we needed to, and kept things moving.
And now 55 West Atlantic is officially PENDING!
