Things my son probably doesn’t know…

He probably doesn’t know how many times I’ve watched him walk away, and smile to myself, knowing he’s my son.
He probably doesn’t know I notice the small things, the way he thanks people, the way he waits for someone else, the respect he shows without thinking about it.
He probably doesn’t know that sometimes I’ll hear him laughing downstairs, and without even realizing, I’ll find myself laughing too.
He probably doesn’t know that every now and then I’ll catch a glimpse of the little boy he use to be, because just for a second, I see them both.
He probably doesn’t know that watching him make his own decisions and navigate his life, is one of the most rewarding parts of being his mom.
He probably doesn’t know how proud I am of the person he is when nobody is watching, because that’s where character lives.
And he probably doesn’t realize that the things I’m most proud of are found in his kindness, his respect, his integrity, and the way he treats people. He is such a good human.
