Now open in our London gallery - Andreas Diaz Andersson - ‘Flora’

This presentation of new botanical work by the Mexican Swedish artist has just been installed in our Harriet Street gallery. Andreas Diaz Andersson creates meticulously constructed minimalist abstractions that explore the depth of perception. His textile works are composed of parallel woven coloured threads that, through their precise and even spacing, form subtle interplays. Within these ordered structures, delicate floral compositions gradually emerge when viewed from a distance, balancing geometric precision with organic form. This dichotomy conveys the rigid methodical act of
threading each line while maintaining the beauty. of sotter, rounder shapes. Anderson’s work reveals ever-greater complexity through sustained observation.

Andreas Diaz Andersson - ‘Flora’

‘Flora’ explores the intersection of nature, classification, and form, drawing from the work of Swedish biologist Carl von Linné. Carl von Linné (1707-1778) was a Swedish biologist, physician, and botanist who developed the modern system of naming and classifying living organisms. His work, Systema Naturae introduced binomial nomenclature, the method still used today to name species with a two-part Latin name (e.g. Magnolia Virginiana). Linne’s system of organizing and naming plants was not just scientific: it was a way of seeing, a method of understanding the relationships between living things, becoming the foundation for modern taxonomy and influencing the way we perceive nature.

Through a minimalistic approach, botanical structures are translated into textile-based works that reflect both the precision and poetry of the natural world where each piece is a quiet meditation on structure, science, order, and intuition.
