🏳️‍🌈 Pride Round is about celebrating authenticity, visibility and belonging, and this weekend, our M3s embodied exactly that.

The team asked one of their openly gay teammates, Dre, to captain the side and lead them onto the field, recognising not only the player he is, but the person he is within our club community.

For Dre, West has been a place where he has “never felt more comfortable and confident to be myself in a traditionally masculine-dominated space.” It’s a reflection of the culture we continue to build together, one where everyone is welcomed, respected and encouraged to be themselves.

When asked what Pride means to him, Dre said, “Pride to me is celebrating everyone and being an ally for one another irrespective of the community you belong to.”

Being selected as captain made the occasion even more special.

“It was one of the most meaningful moments and memories for me. It meant the world to lead the team out as an openly gay player and show our community, and the wider community, what is possible.”

Moments like this matter. They remind us that representation matters, that inclusion matters, and that community sport can be a powerful place for people to belong.

To Dre, thank you for your openness, leadership and contribution to our club - we love you! 🖤🤍 by @andreas_kats93
