What good would faith be without any opportunity to apply it? by @andrew.abound
“What would life be like if I was alone on Earth and no other humans existed?” This morning, that was the thought that came to my mind while I was thanking God for relationships. I pondered that question for a few minutes. That version of life would be so empty. It would feel lonely and meaningless. Can you imagine life without anyone else? What would even be the point? Life wouldn’t be LIFE without each other! Thank goodness that we get to enjoy relationships just as a benefit of being alive. It’s by design, built into our DNA! If this is true for our earthly relationships, how much more might it be true for our spiritual relationship with God? We are spiritual beings after all. Our souls crave this, but do we listen? How often do we give God our whole heart and attention? If we don’t do that regularly, maybe that’s the reason we can feel depleted in the soul, despite having good earthly relationships. Our souls NEED God, even more than we need each other. Can we understand how important this is? We were designed to be in relationship with each-other, yet we need God even MORE. It’s easy to forget this in the day to day (speaking from experience). I know for myself, there have been days even recently where I forgot, or I straight up disregarded God for other things. 😢 I neglected my spiritual NEED and after a few days, I could feel the weight in my soul. As a result of missing my relationship with God, I started to under-prioritize the other relationships in my life like my family and even my own health. My focus got out of alignment and it affected everything else. But the amazing thing? There’s always hope in God. He is abundantly good and full of Grace. We can return to Him without guilt. (1 John 1:9) And His love is unconditional! That means there’s nothing we could do that’s bad enough to lose His love! And there’s nothing we could do that’s good enough to cause Him to love us any more than He already does. He desires a relationship with each and every one of us. UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. Isn’t that our greatest human need and commandment? (Cont. in comments) by @andrew.abound
Last night I watched @thesocialdilemma on #Netflix and now I am deleting my social media. I HIGHLY encourage YOU to watch it then decide for yourself what you want to do. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I realized (again) that i’ve become addicted to my phone... and it hasn’t been good for my mental health. 🤦‍♂️😬 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It feels weird to admit, but it’s true. 💯 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve found myself opening my phone (multiple times per day) without ANY prior thought or reason to do so... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It’s almost as if my brain has been hijacked... and my “extra attention” is being sucked into this device 📲 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sound familiar? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ IT’S A PROBLEM. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉🏼 The craziest part? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I don’t even NOTICE when it happens... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I just Click. And. Scroll. 🧟‍♂️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (Like a zombie) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ THAT‘S A PROBLEM. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I don’t know about you, but... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ❌ I DON’T want to be a dopamine-addicted phone junkie. 🙅‍♂️🤢 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ❌ I don’t want my brain’s “default mode” to center around my phone or an app. 📵 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✅ I want my brain to be stimulated by the NATURAL, HEALTHY, life-ENRICHING things... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✅ I want to RECLAIM the 4 hours per day stolen by social media CONSUMPTION and invest that time into CREATION. (among other positive things) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉🏼 Did you know that 4 hrs/day on social media is equal to 60 FULL-LENGTH days over the course of a year?? 👀 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (read that again) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉🏼 That’s 182 (eight hour) WORK DAYS each year. 💵 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ MIND BLOWN! 🤯 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I don’t know about you, but... I’ve wasted A LOT of time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I encourage YOU to check (right after this) what YOUR “screen time” is. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ How much of your time is being sucked into this black hole? 📲🕳 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1 hr per day = 45 work days per year 2 hrs per day = 91 work days per year 3 hrs per day = 136 work days per year 4 hrs per day = 182 work days per year 5 hrs per day = 228 work days per year 6 hrs per day = 273 work days per year 7 hrs per day = 319 work days per year 8 hrs per day = 365 work days per year ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ☝🏼 THAT’S A LOT OF TIME. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We should ask ourselves some questions: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “How can I use this time to CHANGE MY LIFE for the better?” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (Cont. in the comments) by @andrew.abound
Family hangs! ❤️ #ILoveMyFamily by @andrew.abound
BIG CONGRATS to my twin brother @caleb__richards and his beautiful WIFE @angelika.richards ❤️ I love you guys so much and am incredibly excited for your future together. Here’s the text version of my best man speech for anybody who wants to read it! 😃 “Hi everybody! I’m Andrew, Caleb’s best man and also, his big brother. Yes you heard that right, I’m his BIG brother. I may only be 9 minutes older, BUT those 9 minutes have to count for something, right Caleb? On a more serious note: I think it says a lot about a man when he chooses his brother to be his best man…. Mostly, of course, it says: “I have no friends.” I’m just kidding! The truth is, when you’re a twin, you don’t really need many friends because you always have your best friend with you. At-least that was the case for us. Growing up, the “TwinLife” as we call it, came with it’s own set of unique challenges and benefits. One of the challenges was when Caleb punched me in the face on Christmas Eve and snapped my front tooth off... when Dad saw that I was holding my tooth in my hand, he wasn’t very happy... On the other hand, one of the biggest benefits was that we could share EVERYTHING. And I mean everything... Growing up we shared the same clothes * we had the same friends * we played the same instruments * we took the same classes * we got the same grades * we played the same sports * we drove the same car * we worked the same jobs * we shared the same college dorm room * we combined our money * we shared the same bank account * we EVEN, had the same high-school girl friend (but not at the same time) Seriously though, other than the bride and groom themselves, I don’t think anyone here is more happy to see Caleb getting married than our parents. They’ve been amazing role models for Caleb, Devin and I. They’ve been married for 28 years, and they are still as loving and loyal as ever. It’s their love that forms the bedrock of the happy, supportive and loving family before you now. And as I think about it, we’ve had additional role models in both sets of our grandparents. Grandma and Grandpa Richards and Grandma and Grandpa Krasselt, BOTH of which (cont. in comments) by @andrew.abound
How did MARKETING ANALYTICS help bring me closer to GOD? (4 min read) 👉🏼 The other day, while studying marketing analytics, I kept thinking, “man, these details make me feel FRUSTRATED!” I knew I needed to learn what I was studying, BUT because of some roadblocks, I wasn’t enjoying the process. For HOURS I felt subtly annoyed and by the end of the day, I was so upset and tired that I. Was. Ready. To. Be. DONE... for the day. As I laid down to sleep, I realized something... I realized that because I had focused SO INTENSELY on ONE area of life & it’s struggles, I had FORGOTTEN (temporarily) about God’s blessings in my life. I had lost perspective & I let it mess up my day. So what did I do? I started counting my blessings & recognizing how God has guided my life — then almost INSTANTLY I felt peace, warmth and a general sense of WHOLENESS. My perspective SHIFTED back to seeing the WHOLE picture rather than just ONE part. I realized that even when I forget about God, He NEVER forgets about me... And as we are living in lockdown, battling Covid, facing unemployment, experiencing civil unrest and so much more... GOD has continued to BLESS life. It’s kinda like there is a hurricane of CHAOS... yet, (for many of us) we are living in the EYE of the storm. Don’t misunderstand me, I’m NOT saying that a relationship with God equals a struggle free life... I’m saying that it’s EASIER to LIVE in the “eye” when you have a relationship with the one that SEES. (Read that again) In other words: Having a relationship with GOD makes LIFE better in EVERY WAY, despite the storms and struggles. I’m not perfect, but I RECOGNIZE God and I have a RELATIONSHIP with Him that I work on every day. For anyone who may be going through hardship, feeling frustrated or “distant” from God... know this: He loves you and He wants a RELATIONSHIP with you. God wants a relationship with ALL OF US! So, what’s the point of me saying this? I believe that God blesses us as humans so that we can be a blessing to others AND (most importantly) bring people closer to Him. God bless you bro and travel safe on the rest of your tour! Much love from 1/2 of the twins! 🚀🌎🙏🏼 by @andrew.abound
Summer #5 of #DoorToDoorSales is in the books. #WichitaKansas you were a blast! Driving away I didn’t know whether to “give you the bird” as @mcramplus3 would say, or maybe instead, replace the bird with a peace sign... I think this time around it’s for sure a happy “deuces.” ✌🏼 Shoutout to @rdiehl12 for breaking the all time summer sales record at @calibersmart while also BEING a #WorldClassLeader. I am grateful for your example and friendship bro. This summer you inspired me to BE my best self and do what is hard in the moment rather than settle for what’s comfortable. 🙏🏼 I also wanna give a huge shoutout to my little brother @devin.richards !!! Selling 5X what you did the previous summer is no small feat and I am #proud of you for having the #courage to give it a third go. Now you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor and continue living your best life!! Way to go bro. 🙌🏼 Shoutout to the Nik’s: @nik_n0t_nick for crushing it and finishing as part of the top 10 with over 300 accounts installed and @nikgarza for coming back from a #SegwayAccident which resulted in a broken wrist, a month off work (mid summer) and STILL coming back to *nearly* finish in the top 10 (and kick my ass 😂🙌🏼🤜🏼) I am proud of you guys and am grateful that we are friends. Shoutout to the rest of the team that I don’t have on Insta. Each one of you are ballers and I am excited for your future and for our friendship. Now I’m back home in Idaho, planning the next 6 month goals along with a day to day action plan to get there. I’m gonna leverage this momentum and continue growing as a well-rounded human. As always, I am #grateful and #stoked for the future! Much love! by @andrew.abound
Super #Grateful that I got to hang with and say bye to family and friends before Kansas. Love you all. 💙 by @andrew.abound
