The houses cast distinct shadows that shift throughout the day. Reinforcing the idea that perception and feeling changes while circumstance stays the same. Finally finished the third house in the series. In the wire structure, the house is reduced to line. Light passes through it, casting shadows like a line drawing. Similar to the beginning stages in planning out a piece when you have the initial inspiration. In glass, the house becomes enclosed while remaining transparent. However, visibility does not equal access. There is an intangibility to the house even though it has become more solidified. Now in wood, the walls are solid and opaque. The warmest of the three and what looks the most like an inhabitable. The writing is carved deeper into the surface, but still no way to get inside and make a home. The work considers trying to enter a structure shaped by a history that preceded you. by @andrew.snow

I’ve safeguarded work in my studio for most of my practice since moving to Philadelphia. A few pieces have been given homes elsewhere, but many pieces have stayed in my studio. Especially the ones with my writing. It finally felt right for me to frame a few and give them the chance to have others now live with them.

I’ve framed nine from my Things Found series (12x16.5”). Available individually ($520). Let me know if you have any questions…

After working on this painting off and on for almost five years… it’s finally done. Anyone need a big red painting of me that follows you around the room?

I was always drawn to vintage and antiques
Music on old records
Only to come across scratches
halfway through the b side
Some fine china
I thought was pristine
But would find chips once turned over
Blue glassware that glowed in the light
always caught my eye every time
but felt too fragile when picked up
I tried on every
Well worn leather jacket
but few kept me warm in the end

Most too big they swallowed me up
Others too small and restricting
Many were too stiff and rigid
A few had holes that let the cold in
I always wanted one that fit just right
But a couple left me feeling haunted
Because they were never mine
to put on first
