@cscsracing Round 4&5 at @shannonvillemotorsportpark was one of those weekends where things didn't go as planned. The #520 RX7 had other plans for us!

The first quali session on Saturday morning running pro layout, the track was pretty good and we managed to run a 1:12.1 on an really old set of tires. But the engine just felt like it was down on power. Running around on what felt like a 350hp car! Not thinking much of it we slapped on our good set of used tires and headed out for the last qualifying session in the afternoon. Drove the doors off the car and only managed a 1:12.06, which is a far cry from where we expected to have the car.

Before time attack I was going through logs on our Haltech Nexus R5 to try and figure out why the engine felt flat. Made some changes to our timing curve and sent it into time attack.

The first flyer I botched the entry info turn 2. All day I was struggled here because the high line on the exit where the rx7 needs to run to maintain momentum was covered in lots of junk. I cruised the rest of the lap crossed at a 1:11.05 which i was pretty impressed to see up on the dash. 2nd flyer I nailed turn 2 and our first 2 sectors were up on the first flyer.....but braking coming off the back straight oil filled the windshield!!

The 1:11.050 lap was good enough to secure first in unlimited but we had a 1:10.20 on the predictive with 1 sector to go... would this had been a 1:09.xx lap???

Sunday on the full track layout we struggled with the same oil issues on the windshield after less than a lap. The guys rigged up a huge catch can to try and solve the issue but in the end it poured rain right before time attack.

Time to figure out our engine and why the dry sump scavenging stages are being overwhelmed all of a sudden.

Thanks to my amazing team, those who were there and those who helped to get the rx7 back on track again. You guys rock!

@cscsracing Round 3 at Toronto Motorsports Park SB layout was one of those days where I was just glad to keep the car together and have a fun day at the track with friends. Really didn't want to break anything before Shannoville, which I'm really excited to head back to.

The first quali session in the morning the track was pretty good and we managed to run a 1:21.x just learning the SB layout. We missed the 2nd and 3rd sessions just to save abuse on the car. Decided it would be a good idea to run the last quali session just to feel the track out and put the car into the 1:19s. Managed a 1:19.5 with a lot left on the table. The track was really good considering the sun had been blazing all day.

Looking through the data after the last quali session I was pretty confident we had a low 18 in the car. But like everything in racing, nothing goes according to plan.

Managed a 1:20.9 in time attack, which was good for 1st in class and 3rd overall. Just couldn't get the guy 👋 behind the wheel to slow down and let the car work.

Shout out to one happy guy who made my day and gave me a big thumbs up before time attack @b5_track cheers Aref, was a blast running with you in time attack. The car sounds so good and that transmission is putting in work!

Thanks to my amazing team, those who were there Sunday and those who helped to get the rx7 back on track again. You guys rock!

@cscsracing Round 2 at Toronto Motorsports Park was one of those days with highs and lows! That's racing! One thing is for sure, after nearly a decade we finally ran the 1:13 at TMP and not just once!

The first quali session in the morning the track was phenomenal and we managed to run a 1:13.7 on an old set of A7s. We missed the 2nd and 3rd sessions due to red flags, blown engines, fires and a lot of carnage on track. We decided it would be a good idea to run the last quali session just to feel the track out. On the first flyer I went for a ride through the grass exiting the esses and banged up the car a little. After being towed back by the recovery team it was all hands on deck to get the car fixed and cleaned up. I can't thank my team enough for hustling in short time @chap.lab @delamaurice01 @owenfreee killed it!!!

The data collected from testing the week prior showed there was a 1:12 in the car on old tires. We put the fresh A7s on for time attack to chase this. I quickly learned in the first flyer that the track wasn't there. Searched for grip wherever I could over the next 2 laps but it wasn't the day. Managed to improve the morning session time by a few 100s running a 1:13.669 to secure first in class and 2nd overall.

Running into the 13s at Toronto Motorsports Park has been a dream for a long time. Now that we did it, I want 12s, and the data shows 🤫

Thanks to my amazing team, those who were there Sunday and those who helped all winter to get the rx7 back on track. You guys rock!

The RX7 hasn't been on CTMP since 2021... On the 6th complete lap in lapping day traffic this weekend, the car ran a 1:26.10, pulled 1.7G through turn 8, 200+ kph down 4 and 250 kph out the back. With a heck of a lot more in the car driving wise and simply getting a clean lap.

This season was really about getting back into the grove again, but the things this old 80s car is doing continue to surprise.

Now to make some small changes for next season and put this car well into the low 20s.

Thank you to everyone who helped yesterday

@cscsracing Round 5 at shannonville Motorsports Park was one of those days that was filled with success, dreams come true, and failure all in one day. That's racing!

The first 2 quali sessions, I had a really old set of a7s on the car that were literally delaminating. Managed a low 1:52. Then I put on our good set of A7s for the last quali session to get some tire data for time attack. On the first flyer, the car goes 1:49.4 without getting the tires up to temp, had a slight vibration, so decided to pull the car in and check it over before time attack.

Running into the 49s at Shannonville has been a dream since i started lapping there back in 2004. Shannonville was my home track back then.

Time attack was the disappointing failure with our drive-by wire throttle glitching on the starting line and stranding us in the hot pits.

The real haunting question is, what would the RX7 have done with the tires up to temp on a clear track in time attack??!!

Thanks to everyone who helped yesterday. You guys rock!

I have not posted much in the past few years. Time to change that!

The #520 RX7 is back! Since the craziness of covid, I've been investing a significant amount of time into building my Engineering business. This has pulled me away from putting the required time into my passion to see any success. But life has a way of creating unique opportunities if you're willing to work for it.

I'll do a bit of a writeup from the past 3 rounds of CSCS events later this week. Getting the car into the 51s at Grand Bend has been a dream for a decade, and to finally do it was rewarding. 50s are next!

Alast, we have been busy on the car over the past few weeks after the thrash it took in Grand Bend in preparation for Shannonville . An especially annoying item is the challenges with the pinion nut on our Ford 8.8 diff backing off. Without teamwork, there was no way I myself could put this back together in time for Shannoville. @nobleperformance team 💪🏻 💪🏻 💪🏻

Would like to thank all those who have been involved in getting the RX7 back together in one way or another.

Fun event with cscs at grandbend watching these competitors race against the clock, but not just racing against themselves or the clock but each other at the same time.

I am honoured to have shot these guys. Till next time
