Last year as part of a documentary endeavor for He Gets Us, a team of us travelled throughout the states capturing the stories and faces of everyday people. In total, we covered 17 states and over 3,000 miles of road asking people the question, “What are you sick of?” I was on the advance unit—tasked with creating environmental portraits of people, documenting the feeling of a roadtrip, and street casting for the main unit, who was a couple of days behind us. It was an exercise in slowing down and being present with the people that we met. Being led by the light, and following your gut. These are just some of the people who shared a piece of themselves throughout that journey. The work culminated in 3 broadcast spots and a four part docuseries, all which can be viewed on the He Gets Us YouTube page. And To Everywhere Between Being a human can be a beautiful and devastating thing all at once. We are all not that much different, for we share parts of the same story. Here’s to the people we met. To those who shared of themselves and opened up their places. And to everywhere between. Wrapped production on a 20 day journey around the country. Many miles logged in the front seat of a passenger van—eyes peeled towards the light. The process was counterintuitive to the normal commercial process—learning to slow down and linger in places, to not be in such a hurry.
