🎥🔥 Guided Tour – Part 8 (Final) 🔥🎥

🔥 The final position in “CHROMA*ambiguità” — concluding our guided tour at Neurotitan Gallery in Berlin. 🔥

@andrewfriedrich__

To conclude the tour, Andrew Friedrich briefly introduces his own work. Like several of the artists in the exhibition, he studies in the class of Anselm Reyle.

Andrew originally comes from a background in classical figurative and realist painting. In recent years, however, his work has increasingly been driven by the desire to give form to the realities of everyday life that unfold within digital spaces. His approach attempts to extract a physical, material quality from the digital image world.

To achieve this, he builds custom analog painting devices that imitate digital image structures and visual logics. One of these tools, used in the work presented here, is the Pixelator 200, which allows digital pixel structures to be recreated through a mechanical painting process.

In this piece, the result is combined with another tool that introduces gestural painterly marks, partially dissolving the rigid digital structure. The image is then completed with text elements, spray paint, and classical oil painting, creating a layered dialogue between digital aesthetics and physical painting.

🎥🔥 Guided Tour – Part 7 🔥🎥

🔥 Almost at the end of our tour through “CHROMA*ambiguità” at Neurotitan Gallery in Berlin! 🔥

@zwei.schilling

Instead of a cold, church-like space, visitors are welcomed here by a warm, soft XXL beanbag, inviting them to sit down and experience the surrounding works from a different perspective — while also immersing themselves in the sound installation developed by Pascal Schilling.

Pascal has created a multi-channel acoustic installation with around twelve speakers and several subwoofers distributed throughout the space. Different sound surfaces and tonal movements glide through the room, interacting with the exhibition and sometimes even subtly responding to the artworks they pass by — occasionally commenting on them or emphasizing certain curatorial moments.

The installation ultimately leads into a small highlight of the exhibition — the Cozy Room, which can be understood as the pulsating heart of the show. Here, a musical composition written by Pascal will be played every 20–30 minutes. With carpets and cushions inviting visitors to get comfortable, the space becomes a place to fully immerse oneself in the experience.

The piece was written from a deeply personal and emotional motivation, resulting in a powerful and moving composition.

✨ Later this evening, the final position of the exhibition will be introduced by Andrew Friedrich.

🎥🔥 Guided Tour – Part 6 🔥🎥

🔥 Continuing our tour through “CHROMA*ambiguità” at Neurotitan Gallery in Berlin! 🔥

@zixu__wang

Next, Andrew Friedrich introduces a work by Zixu Wang, who studies in the class of Anselm Reyle.

Zixu first develops his works digitally on the computer using 3D software, where the initial forms and compositions are created. These digital structures are then translated into the physical world. He works with shaped canvases, onto which different textures are applied through layers of paint. Some of these surfaces even break or crack slightly, intentionally leaving visible traces of the physical and analog process.

In the final step, the originally digitally rendered image is printed onto the surface, while smaller details are refined by hand. The result is a work that moves between digital construction and physical materiality.

We are very happy to present this piece here, especially as it was created specifically for this wall. As visitors enter the space and move through the long corridor, the work appears almost like a final focal point of the exhibition—guiding the viewer forward, almost like approaching a kind of digital altar at the end of the gallery.

@merlepappelbaum

Next, Andrew Friedrich introduces a work by Merle Pappelbaum, who also studies at the HFBK in Hamburg in the class of Anselm Reyle.

Although her paintings may appear clean, highly planned, and almost digitally rendered, they are in fact the result of a very intuitive painting process. While Merle sometimes begins with light sketches, the specific movement, shape, depth, and height of the forms only emerge gradually through multiple successive layers of paint.

In her studio lies a large reference book filled with scientific botanical drawings, and the ornamental structures of plants strongly influence her visual language. This natural ornamentation reappears in her paintings, where it is transformed into a distinctly contemporary pictorial vocabulary.

🔥 Continuing the tour through “CHROMA*ambiguità” at Neurotitan Gallery in Berlin! 🔥

@michelleannabaumann

Next, Andrew Friedrich introduces a work by Michelle Anna Baumann, who is currently studying at the HGB in Leipzig.

Her working process is highly intuitive. The symmetry seen in this piece, for example, emerges from shaping the clay simultaneously with both hands, allowing the form to develop organically rather than following a fixed plan. While she sometimes begins with rough sketches, much of the process evolves through the physical act of forming the material.

At the same time, Michelle is deeply fascinated by industrially produced steel objects, particularly stainless-steel elements such as car rims. This fascination appears throughout many of her works in the form of metal joints and screw connections, which create a striking contrast to the otherwise organic, bone-like visual language and forms of her sculptures.

@jakob.scheidt

Next, Andrew Friedrich introduces the work of Jakob Scheidt, who also studies in the class of Anselm Reyle. Jakob began his studies earlier and is currently in his third bachelor semester — and remarkably, he has only been painting for about two and a half years.

He creates partially very large-scale, almost monumental oil paintings, such as the one presented here. In his works, Jakob weaves together elements of digital visual language and contemporary culture with strong references to art history — particularly the Late Middle Ages and the early Renaissance. He draws inspiration from painters such as Giotto and Duccio, whose spatial compositions and symbolic imagery subtly resonate within his contemporary pictorial worlds.

The result is a body of work that bridges temporal layers — merging historical sensibilities with the aesthetics of the present.

🎥🔥 Guided Tour – Part 2 🔥🎥

🔥 Step deeper into “CHROMA*ambiguità” — Part 2 of our guided tour at Neurotitan Gallery in Berlin! 🔥

@noahkauertz

Continuing the tour, Andrew Friedrich introduces the works of Noah Kauertz, with whom he studied for many years at the Alanus University in Alfter in the class of Andreas Oroz.

When picking up the paintings from Noah’s studio in Leipzig, where he now lives and works, a small table with models was set up in one corner — including elements that can also be found within the paintings presented here.

As part of his process, Noah composes small fragments of nature imagery — photographs, details from art history, and painted studies — assembling them into constructed landscapes. These scenes are staged, lit, and photographed before being digitally re-collaged and ultimately translated into virtuoso, classically executed oil paintings on canvas.

We are very happy to include these works in the exhibition. Although this method is not entirely new in Noah’s practice, the paintings belong to a new body of work, largely created for this exhibition. Their completion came with considerable effort, making it all the more rewarding to see them finished in time.

🎥🔥 Guided Tour – Part 1 🔥🎥

🔥 Step inside “CHROMA*ambiguità” — Part 1 of our guided tour at Neurotitan Gallery in Berlin! 🔥

With @fernlibertykraut

In the first part of our exhibition tour, Andrew Friedrich guides us through the spaces of CHROMAambiguità* and introduces the work of Fearn Liberty Calenbach Campbell.

Her large-scale textile works resemble densely detailed pictorial tapestries, rich in layered forms and textures. Created with a tufting gun and combined with embroidery and shaved surfaces, the pieces develop a sculptural, relief-like quality that shifts between image and object. The works move between ornament, narrative density, and tactile presence, inviting viewers to explore them both visually and physically.

This video marks the beginning of our guided tour series, offering a closer look at the artists and works featured in the exhibition.
