Just reflecting on the beautiful world we live in. If we want to protect it, we need to recognize we have all the I we need without any A before it, which goes double for the Aholes making the AI. We need to organize. We need to get off social media. We need to exist in the real world. All power to every warehouse arsonist, ICE resister, and conscientious objector.

I’ll be deleting IG again in a few weeks before Zuck decrypts our DMs. For any of you who want to keep in touch, or who don’t, find me or not before then.

In the meantime, follow this bird. It’s not real, but then it is.
And follow the moon, which isn’t real, but is.

Standing beside me while I took these, giant dogs. Also with me? The strength of generations of nobodies who have fought for a better life, leading me to this place. We need to collectively stand now for the next generations of somebodies who will take our place. The world is too precious to just let it die for Dow jones profits, petrochemicals and pedophilic “elites.”

We wake up early, go to bed late. We take what life gives us. We take a little more. We lose ground, maybe feel bad or lonely, or have an infirmity. Occasionally the record skips. Some songs drone on and on, getting under our skin. We have happy moments and want to hold on. The sound of debris hitting against the windows but there’s nothing out there. The morning sun, the morning moon, the icy water, the falling snow, the dark, it all slides by, replaced by same but different. Things we see are revealed with no greater truth. What’s the point, really? What’s the point of any of it but the fight. We fight and it’s all we have, but when we stop the days go by regardless. I could probably have done better with this caption; it feels a little bleak despite the occasional use of semicolons. “The sun still rises.” There! We did it. by @andrewlis

Happy Earth Day, earthlings.
Some of the bounty we risk losing, from the Southern Hemisphere. Mostly #flowers with #nofilterneeded
Slide 7: at night, the bats would float and feed on the fruit trees and bugs. And the path to paradise was lined with flowers and shade trees.
Slide 8: right across the fence line was this li’l 🐖 who ate fallen 🥥 from the 🌴. He and his li’l piglet siblings gobbled any scraps you tossed their way.
Slide 9: Big River is one of Johnny Cash’s best songs, and it begins, “Now I taught the weeping willow how to cry cry cry... I showed the clouds how to cover the clear blue sky... the tears that I cried for that woman are gonna flood you Big River ... and I’m gonna sit right here until I die.” Not a bad way to go.
Slide 10: a swan. I just got lucky with the light.

The world would do just fine without us. I’m glad I have seen a little bit.

As noted naturalist Teddy Roosevelt said in 1908, “...this Nation as a whole should earnestly desire and strive to leave to the next generation the national honor unstained and the national resources unexhausted.” TR rightly revered our natural world and saw its conservation as a moral obligation and a legislative necessity. When he spoke, we had few refineries and the world harvested rubber from trees, burned coal and whale spermaceti, not all wood was for ikea furniture, the seeds weren’t Monsanto, there were no plastics, and the water wasn’t sold to nestle.

I struggle to see progress in a people that strive for fame online but not honor from the land. Corporate profits are the excuse to make ugly a beautiful place.

It’s time to change. And we all have to do our part or we will find ourselves sweeping the floor together as the chairs go up on the human race after a drunken 100 year bender. No more ignoring our obligations. No more kings. No more oligarchs. No more billionaires. No more wars. No more oil. No more plastic. More of you and me and more for the next 103 years.

It’s easy this morning to dream about faraway lands. I am.
1) Prague’s old town square from 2017
2) Dresden, rebuilt brick by brick by brick into the gothic hamlet it was for hundreds of years. It took a few bombing raids to destroy symbols of culture and it took 6 decades to bring it back.
3) it all seems absurd. Like Kafka here (same Cz trip)
4) or enraging like Josie here, who is dropping out of school if trump is re-elected (Me and my friends will, too, in solidarity)
5) it’s easy to feel shattered, or broken. I sure can’t believe 20% of our country is ok with a mouth breathing lazy racist spoiled brat tenement level fascist, for example
6) but there is beauty, like these flowers Jo and I saw in the Sydney botanical garden
7) or this reed, still a monument to what a seed can do when it reaches for the sun and is nurtured by a caring planet
8) we needn’t retreat to island fortresses (from Tonga, 9/2019)
9) all of humanity isn’t decayed, but maybe it’s time to acknowledge these last breaths of ruin are stubborn, and we can then appreciate what we have (also from Tonga)
10) and maybe we can rise up still.

But look, we need every vote counted. Period. This can’t go down
like trump has done to countless women, where he prematurely climaxes all over, then looks foolish and weak while we’re all just disappointed. Then, to save himself from shame, he claims the entire affair is over, frustrating everyone who thought this was mutually beneficial.
As he storms out, everyone can laugh but we should all feel a little embarrassed for him, and for getting into a mess with such a loser. But in the end, we’re right where we started: we’ll all be better off if this ends soon.
Stay strong. Stay resolute. Keep dreaming! Someday we’ll exhale again by @andrewlis

#bluemoon First Time in 76 years we’ve had a #fullmoon on Halloween. Take a walk with me :
1) lower still in the sky, over Central Park
2) we all have bones, and the best of us feel there
3) either way, we’ll be picked clean by these guys
4) at midnight, with fast moving clouds, intense, lit blue and silver
5) ditto, but also, how long did they know there was water on the moon? And why did they decide to tell us now? Why does government think it has the right to keep secrets from the governed? Who decides? Why do we let them?
6) #nofilter just a floating sea above a rusting hulk of civilization’s tangled monuments. We think of fish, underwater, not breathing like us. Do we ever think how ocean life sees us, floating in gas and not breathing like them? We both just extract oxygen from our environment then expel carbon. Funky when you think we really are just floating, but without the freedom of the ocean’s blue.

9) speaking of jo, she drew me doodling while “working” from home
10) and me actually working from home.
Things are about to get really weird for those of us in America. Wherever you are, I wish you well, and I would hug you and tell you it’s ok if I could. Let’s hope I’m not a liar.

#goodfriday for Christians, #Passover for Jews, and #spring fertility festivals for bulldozed religions.
1) doing fine with fewer humans. #springsprangsprung
2) Easter I remember as one of the last opportunities to wear velour before it got too warm. Here’s my grandmother, my babci (Polish fam, fam). Every Good Friday, she’d drill into our heads to expect clouds, wind and rain btwn 12-3, as that’s when Jesus asked, “why have you forsaken me?”, which seems a fair question given the purported circumstances of his very bad day. His answer was the spear of destiny piercing his side, perhaps because the guards wanted him to stop whining and maybe knock off early. After all, it was Easter - get a jump on it! Today, high winds and cold rain fell in large drops btwn 12-3. Even as a child, the time difference between East Coast USA and Jerusalem didn’t gibe. But there was probably a chocolate bunny in it if I didn’t ask.
3)#manhattan #intimesofcorona - the #freedomtower as distant compass over #emptystreets during #goldenhour #nycstrong
4) #pollution - lots of gloves & masks casually left on the pavement, where the homeless sleep, in gutters & puddles. FFS, people. The trash is RIGHT OVER THERE! #bethechange punk
5) #williamsburgbridge from the middle of Delancey on a weekday afternoon #abandonedplaces
6) a rider at spring / Bway in soho, music blasting, #noworries. #blueskies painted on the Nike window. Nike exploits child labor, produces in the 3rd world rather than pay a fair wage, and supports sweatshops not unions. When you think #abandoned think about companies like this that abandon responsibility. You advertise this when you wear their logos.
7) same shot. Just thought y’all would like #GreenwichVillage #nyc by night. Quiet as a tomb.
8) I hope #zombie Jesus brings me some brains. Fascinates me Jesus left the Holy Land and went to learn Buddhism then taught a mashup much kinder that scripture today. #surreal — he’d roll over in his grave, except they already stole the corpse.

1. Saturday morning #churchbells felt far more hopeful and profound than I expected #imnotcryingyourecrying

3. #ballislife 🏀 - which one will be gone first? A plate of #mandarins or a russian author? Both will be a challenge to get through before rotting
