POSTS STORIES REELS

I was legitimately more nervous waiting outside of Sukiyabashi Jiro then I was before any bar exam I sat for. 8 years of build up and anticipation for this one meal, how could it meet my expectations? Would it blend into other great sushi meals we’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy? Would the hours of research on how to get my foot in the door pay off? Would Jiro be there? Would the countless reviews bashing the place because of its fast pace and stern staff sour the experience? Would the fact that I literally dreamed about lean tuna and Jiro’s masterful technique the night before be for not? All my questions were answered and it was the most meaningful and masterful meal I’ve ever experienced. The entire lunch lasted about 25 minutes from the first piece of nigiri to the final serving of muskmelon. It was perfect. I teared up somewhere near the jack mackerel (no pictures allowed during the meal.) I must have (gently) kneed my wife about 40 times during the meal. Somehow the fish had a deeper flavor than anything I’d had before. Each grain of rice was a workshop in texture. It was a beautiful experience and I’ll forever be grateful for having it. .

I also want to thank every person who was gracious enough to provide me with recommendations for this trip. So many of you took the time to answer my questions and many of you without being asked offered up suggestions that truly made this journey what it was. @thefoodofelan @frodnesor @blakesbites @cityfoodsters @jwang815 @mylastbite @hangrydiary @ramen_beast @ussakasyu @dson__ @little_meg_siu_meg @tokyofixer @tokyomanhattan @camelback_tokyo @konbi @seank7 @natsuko.ete @restaurant_hunter @angelstain @kat_odell @kateatsla and @katsu.sando. Thank you all! If I forgot anyone, please call me out for it. If you’re thinking about or have plans to go to Japan, please ask me anything and I’ll do my best to help guide you, it’s my favorite subject to speak about. What a trip!!!

My best friend and I decided to wake up at 4am so that we could catch the sunrise on the way to Maya Bay. Waking up that early also allowed us to enjoy Maya Bay before all the tourists arrived, which was truly a surreal experience. I also took the single greatest nap of my life on a random island. A perfect day with a perfect person in a perfect location. 🌴 SWIPE ⬅️ For More 📷. .

I stepped into my own brain, it was glorious. The infinite exhibit at the Galaxy store in Harajuku is wild. They place you in a room filled with a constant feed of your own instagram posts and hashtags. A bit surreal, a bit creepy, and an overall fun experience. .

I’m feeling like a 16-year-old about to release a punk rock record. Knowing that tonight at midnight you’ll be able to hear “Can’t Go Back” is messing with my mind in the best possible way. It will be available everywhere you listen to music. For now, enjoy the trailer. Follow along at @koussmusic #edm #edmlifestyle #edmnation #ultramusicfestival #edc by @andrewstellar

Well, that didn’t take long. Front page about the new tune. Link is very much in the bio. #kouss #newmusic #edm by @andrewstellar

Your boy just entered the radio charts…. as well as his DJ era. Got a call yesterday that “The Moment” is picking up steam all across the country. Then I found out I scored an interview with one of the biggest publications in EDM. So excited. So grateful. Brick by brick; player. by @andrewstellar

The newly minted @sushi.kaneyoshi is already firing on all cylinders, and they haven’t even “opened” yet. They’re serving one of the finest takeout sushi meals anywhere, not just LA. The skill, attention to detail, and functionality displayed are why this is probably going to be the next important sushi bar on the West Coast. Thanks to @chrishei and @hangrydiary for posting/inspiring me to find this place.

The @katorestaurant box has been one of the few silver linings of the last few months. Everything @jonyao touches seems to turn into magic.
