AXISTE PAS by @androctonyx is out now. An EP that conveys a mastery of storytelling, emotional complexity and artistry. AXISTE PAS is titled after a vague memory of a poem. An unclear path runs through these tracks: the pursuit of something you aim for but can never truly reach & the idea of self-chosen disappearance. Marauding ambient soundscapes unfold through hazy, textural layers; electro-acoustic atonal fragments heat and melt together with furious field recordings. Fragments of Giacinto Scelsi and shards from Bloodborne emerge and dissolve, while echoes of Hildegard von Bingen’s choir briefly rise through an abrasive, ominous, and epic chant. In constant evolution, emerging from failed glitches and malfunctioning MAX/MSP devices, through shimmering, altered pipe-organ waves until ecstatic blooming.
