Every builder's website shows finished homes.

Almost none of them say anything about the part the buyer is actually nervous about.

Eighteen months of decisions, change orders, weather delays, and handing over more money than they've ever spent at once.

The finished photos prove you can build. They don't say much about what those eighteen months feel like with you in charge of them.

That's the gap I see on most builder sites, and I think it's often the reason someone who liked the work still went with another builder.

If you want to see where that sits on yours, DM me "site." by @andrubailey.co

Here's something I ask early on now.

Who owns the photos of your finished homes?

Not who took them. Who owns them.

If the photographer or the interior designer holds the rights, you might not be allowed to use those photos in ads, in print, or on a new site. So the best homes you've built are sitting there and you can't actually use them.

I've seen builders find this out in the middle of a rebrand. That's a rough time to find out.

Patriot Homes builds custom homes in Saanich, Oak Bay and Victoria, on Vancouver Island.

I came on alongside a designer and handled the build and the content system. The whole idea was to get out of the way and let the homes carry the page.

Every finished home is something their team can add in a few minutes. New build goes up, photos go in, it's live. And when they'd rather hand it off, that's what I'm there for.

That part mattered to me, because a builder's site goes stale the moment updating it turns into a project. That's the part I solve.

I asked Jerry for a few sentences after we wrapped up SiteCal's new site, and this is what he sent over:

"Andru's services were recommended by our rebranding vendor. He took what the branding service created and turned it into a beautifully functioning website that communicates our mission and purpose perfectly to the industries we serve. He will continue to be our go to for website design, updates and support."

- Jerry Flor, SiteCal

SiteCal isn't a home builder, they're a calibration company. But the problem was the same one I keep running into with builders. They do really good work, and their website wasn't telling anyone about it.

A week after launch Jerry let me know four new requests had come in and that customers were commenting on the new site. That's the part I care about.

If your site isn't doing your work justice, DM me "site." by @andrubailey.co

Most builders I've talked with have at least one of these going on. Which one is yours? by @andrubailey.co
