Some of the planters outside the front door.

The Black and Blue Salvia is finally blooming.

A pot of various pink flowers. Pentas, Double Impatiens, hot pink Salvia, with touches of white Euphorbia.

Pink Pentas up close.

Painted Love Purple Petunia.

Purple Zinnia in front of lavender Phlox.

Another double Siberian Iris bloom!

Mini Rose in peach.

Panicle Hydrangea in the evening light.

Soft peach Scabious Zinnia.

A surprise pink Phlox in the Maple Tree Garden. In an area with white ones. New seedlings are fun to find.

These Tomatoes in the Birch Tree Garden wilted even with water. I think they are too close to the Black Walnut trees. I'll have to try moving them to see if they might perk up.

Pea bloom from the second batch.

Sweet corn beginning to tassel. Now to figured out how to keep the raccoons away...

Front Planters are looking great right now. Challenging keeping them watered with limited water. We got a tank of water a few days ago, then a bit of rain, so they will be OK for a few more days before I run out again.

Dahlia in one planter is blooming nicely.

Baby Zinnias! I transplanted these yesterday from the too crowded batch I direct sowed a week ago. These will be used to fill empty spaces and to replant what critters ate from the Cutting Garden.

Platycodon, Ballon Flowers

The Platycodon with Hosta background.

The pink Phlox are beautiful in the Trellis Garden with the white Echinacea and Glads.

Another view of Trellis Garden.

The first Trellis now has two matching Roses. I hope these do what I envisioned. A pair of Zephirine Drouhin climbers. Pretty much thornless, and should cover the trellis and bloom on and off all summer once established.

Newest trellis installed yesterday for the grape vines that need a home. I noticed wild grapes popping up in the Nursery bed, so I cleared weeds, dug out some daylilies, and will move the Echinacea once we get wetter weather. The posts aren't all straight, due to rocks but it should hold my grapes well. (Hoping the crooked posts won't show much once the vines grow up 😉

Still praying for rain... Plants in some gardens are beginning to drop in the heat. The spring went dry a couple days ago, so there is no water for gardens. Our well has a history of going dry, so we only use water from our spring or what I collect in the rain barrel. That barrel is now basically empty, in hopes that expected storms actually drop some rain.

We did get about a tenth of an inch this morning, still hoping later storms give more, but looking at radar, they appear to be splitting around us again... We might be hauling in water for planters, in addition to saving water used at the kitchen sink and showers.

Painted Love Purple Petunias are beginning to put out new growth and flowers after a couple weeks in the ground.

Another view of Painted Love Purple Petunia.

View of the back end of the Cutting Garden from one of the raised beds. Yesterday, I began putting up a fence around the Cutting Garden to keep the critters out. None of the repellents have had any effect.

Trellis Garden

Platycodon Blue are blooming great!

One of the Glads blooming! These are from last year's bulbs that I left in the ground. Probably about half wintered over.

Daylily Double Knit.

Someone is having a "bad hair day"... Totally not what the picture of this Allium looked like. They all look like this, some had no color at all, just hairy balls.

Clara Curtis Mum blooming earlier than usual.

Volunteer Morning Glory. The double bloomers don't seed true.

Sweet Potatoes finally in the ground. Even in the greenhouse, they didn't shoot out till a week or so ago. Not sure if they will do much, especially if we don't get rain.

Second crop of Peas. Early ones finished early due to the heat.

White climbing Rose that was in the Trellis Garden. It wasn't what I envisioned there, so it got moved. Not ideal conditions for moving, but it still has some green. This is the beginning of a new garden... A formerly weedy, brushy area that was cleared.

Peggy Martin Rose also got booted out of the Trellis Garden. It is looking better than the white one so far. I took cuttings of both Roses, hoping for babies in case these don't live.

Near the moved Roses, I seeded some Zinnias. I think by @andrusgardens

Smoke from the fires in Ontario Canada made things look a bit spooky today. Tomorrow is supposed to be worse. Echinacea in the Trellis Garden look really bright.

Echinacea Pretty Parasols.

Echinacea seedling blooming in the Blackcap patch.

The back side of the Asparagus patch with Borage, Blue Salvia, and Verbena bonariensis illing in bare spots.

Trellis Garden in the weird light.

Towanda disappeared along with the far mountains.

Angelonia, Pansies and Hydrangeas by the front step.

Dahlia in another planter.

The Lantana are finally blooming! They took forever to grow out after a major trim before the planters came out of the greenhouse. The smoky haze made the color look really bright.

A quick view of the front edge of the Maple Tree Garden. Petunias are filling out, I'm not sure if they will get as nice as last year. Things are getting very dry, as we keep watching storms split and go around us. I don't water the main gardens, only the planters, raised veggie beds, and newly planted babies get watered. The mulch does a super job of holding in moisture.

Flying Flowers on the flowers! As I was taking a video in the Trellis Garden, I found two different butterflies on the white Echinacea. I was really surprised at how long they stayed there. Usually when I find butterflies, they flit off quite fast.

As seen in the Trellis Garden... My favorite color combo... Pink and blue with white. The Balloon Flower are beginning to pop blooms, backed by white Phlox and pink Mini Roses in front.

This tall Siberian Iris is still popping flowers!

Left side of Trellis Garden with Vinca and Petunias slowly coloring up.

The best looking plum colored Petunia.

Main section of Trellis Garden with Echinacea showing off now. Empty space where Peggy Martin Rose was removed to a new location.

Echinacea Butterfly Kisses.

White Mini Rose with Japanese beetles.

Daylily Seashells and Lace.

White flowered Borage in the Asparagus patch.

Verbena bonariensis beginning to bloom in Asparagus patch.

One lonely apple...

Sooo Frustrating!!! It seems no matter what I do, the woodchuck keeps ruining my cutting garden plants. I have used garlic, milorganite, blood meal, Repels-All, and planted cat mint, chives and Basil between plants. The basil was decimated the day after I planted it. ☹️ I put up partial fence, but really would rather not totally fence in the garden if I can help it. The only Lisianthus that were left alone are next to a low piece of fence that leans a bit toward the plants. I have found some of the Zinnias putting out shoots where stems were cut higher up, and most Lisianthus have little shoots at their bases. If I can keep the beast away, I can still have flowers later on. At least the Zinnias in my other gardens have been left alone so far.

First fire in the fire pit of the year. A gorgeous night to be outside watching the fire and lightning bugs- nature's fireworks. Lily has been watching out over the freshly mowed hat field. I caught her trying to investigate a skunk that was wandering up the field at dusk. Glad she came to me.
