This is a bit of a boring post, but I just finished my most ambitious repair job ever.

John's shirt collar was worn and tearing, but the rest of the shirt was fine. Its been sitting in the mending pile for some time now.

Initially, I was going to trace it off and make a new shirt. Instead, I decided to try and replace it, and go back to Plan A if that didn't work.

I made a new collar and stand, using the back of the old collar at the outside, and some lovely white cotton for the rest. And it worked out way better than I expected!

So now, this shirt is back in action, and ready for a fewmore years of use.

I am pretty pleased with myself 😊😊

Mending is always worth it.

I made myself a top!!

This time last year, I cut out 2 tops for myself, at the same time asi cut out 2 shirts my husband.
John got his shirts, but mine sat on the table.

For a year 🫣🫣🫣🫣

The shame 😑😑

I have plans for this year, but needed to get these made before I move on.
I still have to finish the neckline, but apart from that, it's done!!!

The pattern is 115 from @burda_style 4/14, and i got the fabric in @abakhan_mostyn when I brought my daughter @chiquititateegan to live in Liverpool, 10 years ago.

I like the style. But did have to make several adjustments to the pattern, which is on the small fit side. I should also have made it longer, as it it much shorter than the picture suggested. And , at 5'4",I am not exactly tall.

Still, it fits, it's for me, and I will wear it with pride!!

Roll on 2026!

We had the joy of spending Christmas out west, near Enniscrone, with my daughter and her family.

Such amazing weather. We woke to crisp, frosty mornings, and enjoyed beautiful beach walks in bright sunshine.

Absolutely perfect.

My 60th celebrations continue.

An extra special gift from my very good friends was a week down at my favourite place.

A week of laughs, chats, bananagrams, song, walks, wild swims, saunas in the lashing rain, great food, mosaic making, Halloween and more.

This place is my Soul Food. I hated leaving this morning, but am restored from my Kerry fix.

Last Friday, our family lost a very significant lady.

The eldest of my dad's family, and the last to go, at almost 98, it felt like we would have her forever.

Still driving up to 3 weeks ago, the end came swiftly, but peacefully.

Always a lady, smart, interested in everyone, and looking for family updates to the last, she will be hugely missed by so many people.

I was privileged to get down to see her last week, give her the final news from my crew, and say goodbye.

RIP Peg. We will miss you ❤️ by @andsewtosea

We came down west this evening for the weekend.

Arrived late to a bright, full moon, and clear skies.
Nothing for it, but to go for a moonlight walk to the beach.

It's hard to believe it was 11 pm!! So bright!

The camper is not ours, sadly, but it made a great photo!

I just realised while I was working away in the kitchen, that I made my entire outfit!

It's a funny, proud kind of moment that, knowing that you dressed yourself 😊

The top, I made over 5 years ago, using the Lauren Set from @simplysewingmag . I have made this at least twice since. I love it.

The apron is from the same mag, and is the Apron Dress Set. I made it in 2024, and use it a lot. I will make the straps longer next time, they are quite short, and make the neck sit too high.

And the jeans.
Well, the jeans are a copy of my favourite Sasparilla jeans from my teens, that I made after a short course with @graftonacademyfashiondesign in 2020.
Needless to say, I wear them a lot!!

I spent St. Brigid's day the best way possible.
Away with a bunch of gorgeous women in beautiful Louisburgh, Co. Mayo.

We had great walks, great swims, great food and lots and lots of laughs!
A well needed tonic for the soul.

I took a vagary tonight, and decided to trace off a favourite t-shirt, cut it out, and make it up!

Traced off and made in one evening!! Delighted with myself 😊😊

This is me, at my sewing machine for the first time in months.

I sorted my cave out, got a separate desk for the PC, so I wouldn't be using my sewing table as the 'office', and I have barely sat at it since.

Life, and death, got in the way.

But tonight, I needed headspace, and this was my refuge.

I am only mending, and finishing a few small things, but I am here!

I just have to come here more often.

It's nice to be back 🙂🙂

We have recently added 2 new granddaughters to our family, so now there are 3 🥰🥰🥰

My lovely friend @forager.ie gave me this beautiful bracelet by @juvidesigns , with a sun, moon, and star to represent each child. Each charm has the initial of my 3 beautiful granddaughters 🥰

Thank you Feebee for such a gorgeous gift. I will treasure it forever 💓nearly as much as my beautiful daughters and granddaughters !
