Happy 14th Birthday to Pure MMA!

14 years ago, Andy and I put every dime we had to our name (which wasn’t much) into a business we had no idea how to run. All we knew was we loved Jiu Jitsu & MMA and wanted to share it with the world.

Through passion, dedication, and an incredible community behind us, we’ve grown to be one of the largest MMA facilities in the country.

I don’t like the term “self-made”. Just like in Jiu Jitsu, we took lessons of what to do and what to NOT do from the gym owners around us which was a huge component to the success of Pure MMA.

If you’re a Pure MMA member tell us in the comments the year you joined and why you love it here! 👇 taken in Pure Mixed Martial Arts by @andy_main

The Imanari roll is the OG of cool leg lock entries and arguably the most satisfying movement in Jiu Jitsu to do or watch in real time. No matter how much more developed the leg entanglement systems become, the Imanari roll will never go out of style. @imanarijiujitsu is a living legend in the world of grappling and MMA.

When we first opened PureMMA if asked how it was going I would say "Even on my worst day I get to do Jiu Jitsu with my brother and my friends, life is good". In a year that has carried with it so much uncertainty, I find myself grounded and humbled as I return to the appreciation of that notion and by how things come full circle. We were honored to have Renzo Gracie come to Pure, share knowledge and stories of his training and fighting over the years, and honor Mikey and I with promotions alongside our instructors, students, and friends. Renzo has a remarkable ability to make every person he meets feel like the most important person in the world. Thank you @renzograciebjj and thank you every coach, teammate, and student involved in this journey. It never gets old.

"Fairytales don't tell children that dragons exist; children already know that dragons exist. Fairytales tell children that dragons can be killed." -G.K. Chesterton. Thanks @renzograciebjj for posting this quote. Maybe as adults we need to remind ourselves that we can still slay dragons. #mma #fighter #warrior #courage #experience #fairytales by @andy_main
