Nine Grammy Awards. Two powerhouse musicians. One Rock Castle stage. 🪕🔥

We’re adding even MORE incredible musicianship to the 9th Annual Rock Castle Bluegrass Jam!

Multi-award-winning bluegrass heavy hitters Andy Leftwich and Cody Kilby are joining us on Saturday, September 26, and if you know bluegrass, you know just how exciting this is.

🏆 @andyleftwich is a four-time Grammy-winning instrumentalist whose career began with a fiddle in his hands at just six years old. He spent nearly 16 years performing alongside the legendary Ricky Skaggs in Kentucky Thunder, has become one of Nashville’s sought-after session musicians, and made his artist debut at the Grand Ole Opry in 2022. Whether it’s fiddle, mandolin, or guitar, Andy’s musicianship speaks for itself.

🏆 @thecodykilby is a five-time Grammy winner and former National Flatpicking Champion who also spent 14 years with Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder. A master of multiple instruments, Cody has been a member of The Travelin’ McCourys since 2015 and if you’ve ever watched him with a guitar in his hands, you already know you’re in for something special.

That’s NINE Grammy Awards between them, decades of bluegrass experience, and two seriously talented musicians coming together on the Rock Castle lawn. 🎶

🎶 NEW MUSIC 🎶 Back with his first new music since the release of his acclaimed Aced collection — and celebrating his second IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year award nomination — @andyleftwich serves up “Cliffhanger,” another intricate yet catchy instrumental that’s liable not only to underline his claim to the title, but to leave a listener feeling he’s got one for his mandolin work, too.

“‘Cliffhanger’ is one of the more challenging songs I have ever written,” Leftwich notes. “It’s very fun to play, but the intricate melody and melodic lines make it tough to maneuver around. It makes me think of the sport of rock climbing and the level of concentration and focus it requires. When you get to the top of the cliff, the view makes it all worth it!”

Kicking off with the aforementioned mandolin, Leftwich lays out the twisty, yet memorable tune and several variations before turning to his fiddle, and then introducing his bandmates for the selection one by one — first banjo phenom Matt Menefee, then award-winning guitarist Cody Kilby (Travelin’ McCourys), and finally, a brief spotlight on legendary bassist Byron House — punctuated by mandolin and fiddle turns that give way to the dazzling interplay and unison passages that close the performance.

Says Andy, “I was thrilled how this song came together, and with the feeling I get when listening back to the finished work!”

"Cliffhanger" is streaming in @dolby Atmos spatial audio on @applemusic @amazonmusic and @tidal
