We performed our final Krishna last night. Beautiful, once in a lifetime opportunity to br part of a World Premiere. We had a chorus picnic in the field behind the Opera House. Such a lovely evening & a great send off for the show. Met some amazing people doing this. Easily the best part of working as a singer. Having recently seen the very talented Kiell Smith-Bynoe on Saturday Kitchen a few weeks back, I was delighted to find out his tour included a night at the Palace. He and his brilliant team riff on stories given from the audience. So much fun. A true Royal Court Theatre treat! The theatrical equivalent of a hand grinade. Literally explodes…. although a knowledge of The Crucible will definitely help! Many of the young cast are making their stage debuts with this! What a start to their careers! Quite phenomenal, especially the ending. A great evening on the South Bank. Glorious sunshine outside, and a stunning evening of theatre INSIDE the Lyttelton, National Theatre 🎭 Les Liaisons Dangereuses directed by Marianne Elliot is a proper@extravaganza with spectacular dance sequences adding a great new dimension to the staging, and a brilliant performance from Lesley Manville as the Marquise de Merteuil. Never has she been given such a rounded portrayal before. Loved the show, but Manville is it’s heartbeat. Vincent In Brixton by Nicholas Wright. A truly remarke revival of this great play at the Orange Tree Theatre, Richmond. This tiny theatre in the round gives you as visceral and intimate an experience as it gets. This production offers flawless acting and setting. You are absolutely IN the kitchen. You do not miss even a raised eyebrow. One of the most exciting and rewarding experiences I have ever had in the theatre. I do hope it gets a transfer so more people can see it. Another outstanding evening of drama at the National Theatre last night. I saw this play on it’s last West End outing about 20 years ago when David Suchet packed the theatre to the rafters. I remember his glowering prescence as a man on the brink of collapse financially and mentally, but nothing else of the plot at all. Last night’s viewing could not have been more different. A brilliant, panther like performance from Ben Daniels, worlds apart from Suchet. His Gregor is charismatic, sexy & a deft manipulator. No one stands a chance. The plotting of the play has it’s flaws but no one could deny it’s grip. A proper thriller. Whilst at The Shaftesbury last night, I was reminded of some of the incredible shows I have seen in that theatre over many years by the posters lining the walls. Epic final performance of one of the most powerful musicals I have seen in recent years. Sensational cast & musicians. Story and iconic songs woven together so well.

Kenrex. My final theatrical foray this year. What a way to end it too! A remarkable one man tour-de-force, aided by remarkable sound and a virtuoso musician too…( sorry I haven’t got his name to hand as I write this. ) But he was brilliant. However, this is Jack Holden’s baby. He co-wrote it as well as performing every character in the story. Truly a remarkable achievement.
