POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I am thrilled to reveal the cover of How to Wrestle a Kraken, the next instalment in The Quests of Tiny Wilde middle-grade fantasy series. It comes out on August 25! Pre-orders really help an author, so if you’re looking for a funny and fast-paced story for young readers, please click the link in bio. The cover art and animation by the amazing @garth.laidlaw was created using @escapemotions. Thanks, Garth, you knocked it out of the park! @nimbuspub #middlegradebooks #fantasy #novascotia #mglit taken in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia by @andytolsonbooks

Big kudos to @writersfedofns for another wonderful Booktoberfest! Lots of book enthusiasts. I’m looking forward to digging into the steampunk hijinks of Skygull Calamity by NS debut author @bronwynfairchild, and because I’m a very serious author, I’ll be looking for tips from @mireille.messier and How to Read a Very Serious Book.

I’m halfway through Shadow Thieves by @peterburnsauthor and loving the intense action and alternate history vibe, plus it’s got a terrific main character with a Dickensian backstory. Next up on the TBR is The Haunting of Aveline Jones by @philhickes. I’m currently writing a ghostly MG series, so I’m soaking up spooky stories by the truckload. That cover is amazing! Not a ton of MG based in Nova Scotia, and I’ve heard a lot of good things about The Water You’re Swimming In by @rachel.schwartz.fagan Gorgeous cover and I love a good sibling story. Looking forward to diving in. (See what I did there?)

This Saturday, October 3rd, please drop by Booktoberfest at the Halifax Central Library. This is my fourth year and I love seeing old friends and discovering new books by local authors. It's a great event you won't want to miss!

Wow! Thanks to everyone who came out to the Annapolis Royal launch for How to Wrestle a Kraken! The amazing Kraken cupcakes created by @melodytolson were the hit of the party. Special kudos go to our wonderful Town Crier Christine for the fab intro, to Holly at Mad Hatter Bookstore for hosting and @billmacdonald.ca for the great photography.

Finally! I can announce book #4 in my middle-grade fantasy series, The Quests of Tiny Wilde. I’m currently hunkered down with the manuscript of How to Hide a Dragon, which will be published Fall 2027. Thanks to my editor @claireisreading and the fab crew at @nimbuspub for believing in the series. #mglit #kidlit taken in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia by @andytolsonbooks
