Have you ever made someone else’s forgiveness of you more important than God’s?

Sometimes we think holding onto the shame proves that we’re truly sorry.😢

But taking responsibility for a mistake and continuing to punish yourself for it are not the same thing.

You can apologize. You can learn. You can grow.

And you can accept God’s forgiveness even if the other person never gives you theirs.🫠

Their forgiveness isn’t yours to control. ❤️

Maybe the freedom comes when we stop asking:
“Have they forgiven me?”

and start asking:
“Have I received the forgiveness God has already given me?”

Save this for the next time you’re tempted to keep carrying something God has already forgiven. 🤍 by @angelammanion

I used to tell him how to drive because I thought my way was better. 😬 I was also very fearful (been in way too many car accidents). 😩

Me telling him how to drive didn’t lead to better intimacy… haha.🤪 It might have led to an argument or two. It’s a no brainer, right? 😅 No one likes being told what to do! And the underlying message to him was that I don’t trust his judgment. 😬

I tried a new way of being… trusting him that he’s a grown man and knows how to drive! Our trips have become a lot more enjoyable! 🥰

Do you relate?🙋‍♀️

Heartbreak → Peace & Joy ❤️

I didn’t realize how much my own relationship patterns were influencing my marriage.

For a long time, I really believed the problems were mostly his fault.

I thought if I just communicated MORE…
explained my feelings MORE…
explained what I needed MORE…

he would finally understand me and change.

But it had the opposite effect.

The more I tried to get him to understand what I needed to be happy, the more he felt like nothing he did could ever make me happy.

And that created even more distance between us.

When I learned these relationship skills, I began to see my own patterns differently. I realized some of the ways I was showing up were inadvertently coming across as disrespectful, even though that was never my intention.

I learned how to express what I wanted in a way that inspires rather than pressures.

How to stop trying to manage his side of the street and focus on mine.

And little by little, the tension began giving way to more peace, joy, and connection. ❤️

If you see yourself in any part of my story, I’d love to help you.

Click the link in my bio to book a complimentary consultation. You’ll have space to share where your relationship is now, where you’d love for it to be, and I’ll help you identify 3 core opportunities I believe could help you create more peace, joy, and connection. If it’s a fit, I’ll invite you to work with me.

Love,
Angela ❤️

I’m 43 and I’m not afraid to admit that…

1. I used to be painfully shy, but everyday of my life I choose to walk through the nerves and put myself out there. I’m not where I was with this, but still not where I want to be!

2. I can overthink every conversation and wonder if I offended someone.

3. Even as a relationship coach, I still recognize my need for coaching. The sign of a good coach is one who doesn’t stop learning and growing.

4. I teach on relinquishing inappropriate control, but I still have to push down the desire to make sure everyone likes me.

5. I love the idea of healthy eating and have taught on it before, but I still struggle when sugar is in my house (or anywhere near me) to leave it alone! 😬

6. I love working from home and wouldn’t ever want to change it so I can be with my dog. 🐶

7. Because I don’t have kids, sometimes I can feel on the outside of conversations and how to connect.

This is my journey of life and I haven’t reached perfection, but always learning and growing! I know God’s got me!

If you need a safe place to do the same, follow along!

I don’t know about you, but when I’m starting to feel stressed out and frazzled… it’s a flag to me that I’m not walking in peace and I’m carrying a load that’s not meant for me to be carry.

Can you relate? 🧐 by @angelammanion

What if you didn’t have to explain yourself one more time?🧐

One of the most freeing things I’ve learned in relationships is that I can be misunderstood and still be ok!

I don’t have to correct every assumption or defend my intentions. I don’t have to convince someone to see it my way! (It’s exhausting with that mentality!)

At times, continuing to try to force someone to understand your view can end up in a power struggle, instead of creating the connection you want.

I love using the phrase “I hear you”, and letting them have their perspective.

I can still know who I am.
I can show up with dignity.

And I can trust God with the rest.🙏🏻
