We bought our dream home at 7.25% interest and nobody died. Here’s how we maneuvered around a rate and payment higher than we were expecting 😩

We put $60,000 more down than we originally planned, then furnished the house one room at a time because apparently you don’t have to buy every piece of furniture in one giant emotional shopping spree.

The car in this video is paid off. We both drive paid off cars. We have older iPhones. My AirPods are 11 years old, give or take a decade..

It’s easy for all the everyday stuff to creep up on you and quietly eat into your income. So we try to be thoughtful about what we spend on.

For us, we were happy to put more toward the house we really wanted and the life we get to live here.

Our old neighborhood had gone downhill. There was literally a massive drug bust 3 doors away right before we moved.

Now we can take the golf cart to the lake and go fishing. We spend time in the backyard every day, and usually one of us is in the pool or hot tub.

As someone who loves to spend money, my favorite money we spend every month is on this home. The payment is large. The lifestyle is lovely. The backyard gets used. The golf cart gets driven. The hot tub is earning its keep.

And one day the rate will come down. Until then, we’re over here enjoying the house we love and continuing to use our ancient AirPods. 🤗 taken in Cypress, Texas by @angelineclark_
