In honor of competition season coming up and my 8th season with Diamond, I wanted to share a dance that not a lot of people ever really got to see. This was my last time setting choreography on these kids before they went on to pursue careers in dance, and I couldn’t be more proud and impressed with them. Enjoy !

MEET THE DSD TEAM: MISS ANGELINA
Competitive Director - Part of the DSD family since 2015!

A few fun facts about Miss Angelina:
🖤 Around the studio: Most dancers call her Ang or Coach!
💃 Dance experience: 25+ years
💎 Years at DSD: Since 2015!
🧂 Sweet or salty: SALTY! She’s not a huge candy or fruit girl.
✌Her role at DSD: Competitive Director

Angelina has been a part of DSD for over a decade and leads our competitive program as our Competitive Director.

What she loves most is helping dancers grow not only as performers and technicians, but as confident, authentic people.

She wants every dancer to stay rooted in WHY they dance. To dance from the heart and from real human experience, rather than letting scores, placements, expectations or competition define their journey.

She challenges our dancers to work hard, push themselves and continue growing, while also finding their own voice and staying true to who they are.
Because at the end of the day, the goal is so much bigger than becoming a great dancer. ❤️

It’s helping kids become strong, confident humans who know who they are, believe in themselves and never feel like they have to compromise who they are to be successful.

We are so grateful for everything Miss Angelina pours into our dancers and our competitive program! 🖤

This is why I do this. Watching kids find their people through dance. Watching friendships turn into family. Watching years of hard work, trust, growing pains, laughter, heartbreak, love , and grief all collide in one room as seniors are read letters from the people who grew up beside them.

Dance shaped my life in ways I’ll never fully be able to explain, and getting to watch it shape theirs too is something I hold onto deeply.

At the end of the day, every correction, every challenge, every long rehearsal, every emotional conversation, every kid who’s loved me, and every kid who’s hated my guts for a moment has been worth it. Because it was never really about trophies or titles. It was about this. Giving kids a place to belong, to grow up, and to be seen by people who understand them in a way the outside world sometimes can’t. taken in Diamond School of Dance by @angelizabethrose

To my wife,
who moves through life in phases, thank you for letting me move through them with you. From your hot chocolate phase to the bell pepper phase to the matcha era, each new discovery of yours feels like its own little adventure. I’m grateful for every late night hot chocolate run and every early morning matcha drop off.

A year of being loved by someone who never confused my strength with invincibility. You never treated my strong personality like something to fight or fix , you paid attention, learned me, and met every edge with peace and every hard moment with tenderness instead of expectations. 1 year down, at-least 50 more to go. by @angelizabethrose
