my sweet (& sassy) grandma got her angel wings last week🪽

For 6 months she lived with a broken heart, missing my pop pop more than we could ever understand. We told pop we’d take care of grandma, but we could never fill the hole in her heart that was missing without him. The best thing we could do for her was let her go. As hard as it is and as much as my heart hurts thinking about all the big milestones in my life they won’t be here for, knowing they are together again gives me peace and I know they will be looking down on me from heaven everyday.

I got 25 years with my grandma, but no time would ever be long enough. I’ll miss gossiping with her about whatever she saw on entertainment tonight, recapping dancing with the stars, dancing to Elvis, or just calling her to tell her about my day.

I know heaven has all of her favs: the best Italian restaurant (Olive Garden if you asked her), hallmark Christmas movies year round, disney’s pineapple dole whip, endless bottles of coca-cola, Elvis movies and music 24/7, & best of all happily ever after with her one true love.❣️

My pop pop🪽❤️‍🩹

Last week I got the worst call I could imagine, my pop who had been fighting a long battle with dementia had passed. They call dementia the long goodbye and while we knew it was coming, nothing could’ve prepared us for the feeling of life without him.
Not being home to be with him and my family in his final days was one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced, but thankfully with FaceTime I was able to see him and tell him I loved him every chance I could.

To know him was to love him and if you knew him you knew he would do anything for his girls, especially my grandma. Whether it was sitting with her while she got her nails done, watching hallmark movies on repeat, or listening to Elvis for the millionth time, I never once heard him complain. Getting to see his love for her was so so special.

Today we laid him to rest and I got to say my final goodbye. I’d give anything to see his smile, feel his hug, & hear his voice one more time.
Pop we’ll miss you forever, but you taught us to be strong so we’ll be strong for each other & take care of grandma. I know you will be watching over us & I will never stop looking for you in everyday.

I hope heaven has lots of hamburgers & ketchup on everything just for you!!
