As of this week, I am officially a legal resident of Sweden 🇸🇪🙌🏻

WOW what a journey this has been. Honestly, there are few things I’ve done in my life that I’m this proud of. I had to study the entirety of the EU laws, learn how to advocate for myself, collect and save hundreds of documents, all while physically moving across the world with my dog, finding apartments, getting social security numbers…..the list goes on forever.

I breathed the BIGGEST sigh of relief when I was notified about my residency application. It only took the first day I landed here to think, how could I ever leave this place?

I learned Western Gulls could be lesbians in 2023, in Bruce Bagemihl’s book “Biological Exuberance.” A few pages later I learned about George Hunt and Molly Warner, the two scientists who made the breakthrough discovery in the 1970s. I joked to Elliott the next day: “we should make a film about this.” His reply was, “actually, let’s do it.”

Almost 3 years later, our film Love Birds is finally available to watch worldwide, for free.

Maybe the real Emmy for outstanding science and technology documentary was the friends we made along the way!

What a dream come true ✨ @daysedge took a trip to the Emmy’s for the first (and definitely not the last) time last night. It was an honor to have a piece so special to me get nominated on the world’s stage. Even though we didn’t win, I still don’t think I could have imagined this moment in my wildest dreams. Thank you so everyone who made this journey possible 🧡

The Love Birds team is making our way across the globe for two exciting screening events!

🇵🇹 First we’re starting in Seia for @cineeco film festival. The film screens at 10m at the Seia Municipal House of Culture Cineteatro, with free admission!

🇬🇧 Next we head to Bristol to attend the @wildscreenorg summit. Love Birds will be screened in the “Kindred Shorts” block beginning at 2:45pm. Tickets can be purchased at headfirstbristol.co.uk.

One year ago, me and Juniper walked out of my home in San Diego for the last time. Some days it still doesn’t feel real. No words accurately describe how thankful I am that my life path detoured in this magical place.

Happy midsummer!!! We had such a fantastic day at the lake making skewers and splashing in the water. My first midsummer in Sweden is actually my second altogether - my first was actually in San Diego at the Swedish House in Balboa Park.
