“The Simson Legacy: A Family of Fighters”

It started decades ago with my cousin, Rayen Simson, an 8-time world champion. He set a standard that was larger than life, a bar so high it seemed untouchable. Then came my time. I became a multiple champion under the World Kickboxing Network (WKN), adding my name to the growing Simson legacy.

But it didn’t stop there. My cousins Jerrel and Cedric Simson took the torch next, fighting in Holland and carrying the family name with pride. After them came Miles Simson, who not only claimed his own titles in kickboxing but also transitioned into MMA, where he continues to make his mark today.

What’s remarkable is that none of this was planned. Nobody sat down and decided that fighting would become a family tradition. Yet, here we are – generation after generation stepping into the ring, ready to fight, ready to win. It became part of who we are.

And through it all, we’ve always proudly represented the smallest country in South America – Suriname. With every fight, every victory, and even every loss, we carry the pride of our nation on our backs.

Now, as Miles continues his journey in MMA, a question arose: Who will carry on the Simson legacy when his fighting days are done? That’s when my eldest son, now 16, stood up and said: “Dad, I want to compete.”

Hearing those words hit differently. As a father, it filled me with both pride and responsibility. The Simson legacy is not just about titles or victories; it’s about discipline, passion, and the willingness to push yourself to the limit.

Ian has chosen to take on the challenge, and with every fight, he adds his own chapter to this story. Together, we represent Simson Gym – a place where many more young champions will rise. Every step we take, every punch we throw, is meant to inspire and improve not just ourselves, but the next generation.

This is the Simson legacy – built on heart, hard work, family, and the pride of representing Suriname.
