Back to school… and somehow we survived another summer! 😂

School hasn’t always been an easy journey for Angelo. We’ve had our battles, and honestly, I still find it hard not to get emotional thinking about some of what we went through.

Then we found the most amazing school in Leeds. ❤️

We visited while still living in Manchester and before they’d even met Angelo, they offered him a place. They knew he had Down syndrome — but it didn’t matter. They didn’t judge him by a diagnosis.

They found his 1:1 before he’d even started — and before any funding was in place.

They didn’t need to meet Angelo to know he deserved the opportunity.

And once they did meet him, they saw exactly what we’d always known:

Angelo is Angelo. ❤️

And if you’re wondering about the song in our previous post… 🎶😂

His school friends have actually given him his very own theme tune — Angelo by Brotherhood of Man. They sing it to him at school.😊

So when we called it his “unofficial theme tune”… we really meant it! 😂❤️

That’s what SEN should be about. Understanding the individual child, recognising their barriers and finding ways to help them show what they can do.

Angelo is a very bright boy. Sometimes he just needs things done differently — and give him the right tools and he’ll show you exactly what he’s capable of! 😉

I’ll share more about our school journey and the battles we had on Facebook in the next couple of days. I just need to get my head together first… and probably a box of tissues! 😂❤️

For now — new school year, same Angelo!
