I used to be scared of large bodies of water at night. I’ve had dreams of being stranded in the middle of them with no idea what was beneath me as I struggle to keep my head above water. Then, something shifted in me recently. I now want nothing more than to be at the beach, in the ocean and especially at night with the full moon as the only light. I wish I could have stayed all night. There’s something poetic about standing on the shore and feeling the sand shift and dissolve under your feet. I could either trust it to give way to more solid sand underneath or change my position. Standing strong enough to withstand the waves while also being able to become soft enough to let the ocean and earth hold me. Maybe it used to scare me because something inside of me recognized it as a level of darkness and depth I have inside of myself that I have been too afraid to witness. But I’ve come a long way, I dive into that depth and darkness and I come back with more of my Self. by @angelstar.alchemy

I intended to write a story for my dad, just as I did for my mom, but that will have to come later. But what I can say now is, he was my best friend. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think of him. He is always with me. He was known for his big heart and his character, and rightly so. His heart and mine pump the same way. I can never thank him enough for instilling so much love and compassion into me. From modeling his care for others to me, to sitting me in front of Mister Roger’s Neighborhood on the tv. At his core he was truly a very sensitive and creative person, during a time that this was frowned upon with men. But that cracked open when I was born and I got to witness the best (and seldom, not the best) of him. He has never left me and never will. When it is my turn to cross the threshold he will be the first one there to meet me. by @angelstar.alchemy

I can’t include all of the nuance I’d like to, I’m stumbling to find ways to express myself but and I have to try. If I know anything it’s just how important it is to not give into any dehumanizing rhetoric. Don’t be complicit. Don’t be a willing participant. by @angelstar.alchemy
