reminiscing rome, vatican city edition.🇻🇦

lots of different emotions from my southern plains native girl self being there, but the histories this place holds were something i couldn’t miss seeing.

went to the vatican museums and sistine chapel. breathtaking artwork all around. the sheer scale and level of detail is insane! seeing these artistic wonders with my own eyes was something special.

forever thankful for these opportunities to travel the world and see it from my own perspective.

had a blast at Gallup Ceremonial this year! 💖

last time i attended was 10 years ago when i was visiting family in NM. now, 10 years later I was invited as a performer with the @oklahomafancydancers ✨

i’m so honored to be a part of carrying on the long history of Kiowas and Comanches participating in the gallup intertribal ceremonial. 😇

it was wonderful to experience all the different traditions, dances, and songs that other performers shared and to be in community with everyone this past weekend. our Native people have such incredible richness and diversity in our cultures and communities.❤️

5,000 miles away, but reflecting on home. 🎇

over 250 years of resistance.
& millennia of existence.

i will always be proud of who i am and where i come from. 🪶

it’s been hard to be so far away from home during this time, missing ceremonies and important events that i’ve never experienced being away from. ❤️‍🩹

i find pieces of home in everywhere i go. moments of happiness and connection, humor and peace.

i’m so grateful to have this experience in italy. it’s taught me a lot about myself and reaffirmed what i value and hold close to my heart.

beads i made in murano, the origin place of glass bead making! i learned how to make these from expert glass makers on the island. they even offered me a job after i made these, lol!😂 — these glass beads from venice and murano were traded around the world and the glass seed beads are what we used for our beadwork after we acquired them!
