It’s not a dream! I’m holding my real book! Ten years to get here and I’ve loved every minute of the process. All the writing, but also: classes, workshops, conferences, my writing group and books—all to learn about writing, then querying and then publishing. “Finishing” numerous times only to realize I wasn’t finished. Two professional developmental editors, five beta readers, and seven (yes seven!) rounds of professional proofreading! All part of making my dream come true. Huzzah!

*After a tragic boating accident, a family is drowning in grief and blame. A heartbroken mother navigates her guilt, her teenage son’s angst, her husband’s distance, and anger toward her father. Nothing she says or does is ever the right thing.

Misunderstandings threaten to overshadow the family’s love for each other in an emotional struggle to find hope and learn to trust each other again.*

The happiest of tears hugging my son for the first time in two years.
Also tears of relief that he’s our youngest so we won’t be saying goodbye to another child leaving for so long.
But mixed in with the celebration, I realized some were tears of sadness for the end of a beautiful era for which I’m so grateful. Serving as missionaries was a uniquely spiritual and selfless time for our boys and all three learned how good God is. by @angshaefwrites

Had the best time with a best friend playing in San Diego and discussing The Things They Didn’t See with her book club! A day later I was the guest at another friend’s book club. Someone asked what’s been the best part of publishing a book? This right here. Discussing my characters with people who know my characters. Love it so much. ❤️📚#thethingstheydidntsee @nyctosd by @angshaefwrites

I didn’t plan on so many cherry tomato plants (one was intentional, another accidentally small, a third self-seeded), and I thought this would be the year that I printed them and kept them in check. But clearly I’m still not that person.

But an abundance of bite size sweetness I can pick and pop in my mouth any time of day is the essence of summer. And with no kids at home and school schedules to follow, I plan on enjoying summer at least through the end of September! by @angshaefwrites

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This story of enduring friendship and loyalty had me crossing fingers and toes hoping for a happy outcome for Lark and Mikki but I wasn’t certain if it could happen. I was invested from the start and the plot kept me guessing in this beautifully written story of love and loyalty and light mystery. #shallweread @jessicastrawser by @angshaefwrites

Make a goal that works for you: 500 words/day or 2,000 words/day. Doesn’t matter. Just do it.

Maybe for you it’s sitting in the chair for 3 hours in the morning or maybe it’s evening.

Can you do three days a week? Only two? (Here’s where I’d make the argument if you don’t have all the days, try to make it two or three days in a row. You’ll spend less time re-reading your work to remind yourself where you left off.

You get the idea. It’s different for everyone—just make some goals and a plan, but most importantly, sit your butt in the chair and write. @chrislterry
(And one more helpful editing hint: No need to sit *down* in the chair. Just sit in the chair.)

Besides book club, we didn’t make special plans—I just wanted to tag along with my sister on all her errands for two days. Hanging out all day just like we were kids again. 🩷 @meeshpaul by @angshaefwrites
